Want to buy a phone plan here and an Iphone, what is the best deal?

Hello,

My current phone is dead. It was an Iphone from the U.S. that has been jailbroken, but has problems.

I am ready to upgrade, but not sure what mobile company has the best deal here. I want to buy the iphone and get a contract. I maybe don't need unlimited internet, but need it to check email, FB, weather and train times. I don't talk on the phone here often (lack of friends) but text a lot.

Anyone have suggestions on a company/plan to use??

I would recommend Swisscom .. they have the best network coverage in Switzerland. I have an Orange connection, where I pay 45 CHF monthly for 1 GB data, 90 SMS and 30 mins talk time. I have a contract for two years for an I phone. Would not recommend Orange as I find their network to be poor. But its not a bad option too!

I have Orange with iPhone. I think it's an decent package. No better or worse than Swisscom.

I went with Orange because I desperately needed to get off of my US package that was costing me $300/mo for roaming in Switzerland. I tried Swisscom, but my registration letter wasn't good enough for them -- they wanted the actual card.

Orange gave me no problems though.

Welcome to the Forum I have a 2 year plan and an IPhone with Swisscom, no problems or worries. Great coverage, reasonable fees and most important I have had good customer service so far. Happy hunting

If you text alot dont take out a Sunrise plan. They are great with the internet and phone costs, there service is fine, coverage is pretty good and you can get an Iphone 3GS currently of CHF 1.

Even I am looking for a plan with an Iphone as i am an avid apple fan... but I thought I might hold on to my 3gs and get only a sim only plan as there are rumours that the iphone5 will be out in sept. and if that is the case the price of the IP4 will come down and who knows then you might want the IP5...

If I were you i wud hang around using a hand me down phone till the news units are out...

Patience is a virtue...

I have 240min, 1GB of internet, and unlimited texts per month and my bill is less than 100CHF/mo.

They also have an unlimited talk/text package for slightly more, but the limit on internet is still 1GB. The costs for going over on internet usage isn't all that damning. I once went 5GB in a month (I used my phone as a hotspot) and my bill came out to about 250CHF.

I also have problems with coverage, particularly around border regions. For example I can sit in my office in Basel and all of a sudden on roaming on Telekom.de. Fortunately roaming fees within Europe are either non-existant or are minimal on this package. I went to Holland for a week and roamed like a mad man and it cost me nothing extra.

If you are under 26, then Sunrise MTV plan might be good for you

Unlimited sunrise to sunrise calls.
Unlimited Texts
500 MB of Internet browsing.

The rest are charged but not so dearly.

All for the cost of 35chf pro monat.

I also have to add, if you German reading skill is close the Zero, then you might want to forget about Sunrise, I know despite telling them lots of times that I am English, they still send all the important info in German but they do have an option for English when you ring customer service. Their website does not come in ENglish as well so checking your account online could be a pain in the proverbial.

Swisscom is your next best bet and Orange.

I'm 35 so can't get that plan. I am near Zuerich and would like to be able to use text when I leave the country.
