Soon moving to Zug and just wondering what the status is on broadband services in Zug? Cost, speed, availability etc.

Re: Broadband in Zug?

I think in some places you can get cable internet with a max of about 10mb per sec - but it will cost the earth. I went with SwissCom adsl as we live in the mountains and I've had no problems with it. Just watch out for those rubbish download limits on other cheaper internet connections.

Re: Broadband in Zug?

Sounds good! ADSL works fine and if it's available in the mountains it should probably not be a problem to get it in Zug i guess.

Re: Broadband in Zug?

I have the cable modem from Wasserwerke (the company who does electricity, tv, water and everything possible).

http://www.datazug.ch/

I've been happy with it, had the same sort of box back in Finland as well.

I use the same service and they seem to expand their business very quickly. There is a new WWZ store in Metalli.

The WWZ (datazug) also offer digital TV ( http://www.wwz.ch/kabelfernsehen/FS_TZ09_digitalTV.htm ) and offer channels like BBC ONE, BBC TWO, BBC FOUR, CBeebies, BBC NEWS 24, SKY NEWS ect.

Re: Broadband in Zug?

I'll 4th the WWZ recommendation. You can also try out their digital tv for 2 weeks free before deciding. An added bonus is if you have their telephone services, you can call another WWZ customer for free.

Re: Broadband in Zug?

I am thinking of switching to WWZ as I live in Baar.

Does anyone know if they actually provide the speeds they advertise?
If you go to their website it redirects you to www.quickline.ch and it says in Baar you can get up to 100 mbit, that doesn't sound right as in my place I can only get 15mb with Sunrise.

http://www.datazug.ch/index.php?id=1676 takes you to http://www.quickline.ch/internet/

Prices are also very reasonable. (only interested in broadband nothing else)

P.S There is also Databaar.ch, anyone used them? Their site looks very primitive and I can't do a speed check for my address

No they don't...

I get 52Mbps/5.7Mbps and it advertises 50Mbps/5Mbps

Regarding Databaar, the price seems better but there's no coverage in Zug http://www.databaar.ch/netz/versorgungsgebiet.html

Re: Broadband in Zug?

Not in Baar, in Steinhausen. But usually 50/5... Never had issues with them I find their service very good for the price. I got the AIO Bronze package and I just saw the price went up 15.- it was 70.-/month.

Activation took 3 days after i signed up.

I get around 6 MB download rate so the speed is real.

50 Mbp/s = 6.25 MBp/s

I online game a lot and get a 15 - 50 ping rate on european servers
