Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

can someone share the latest links for EPL Games?

Its not easy to get games on TV. Some of my Scottish friends have carried their Sky UK Subscriptions to Switzerland. Is that legal?

Did NONE of the links on the thread work for you?

In terms of Sky being legal, I don't know if "illegal" is the right word ie I don't think you would be prosecuted for it in practice (although somebody will tell you that it is a remote possibility). It isn't permitted by Sky though so you'd need to maintain a UK address and you cannot contact them to solve issues and you can't use any of the "dial up" services either

Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

Was wondering what people's experience of english football on Swisscom is.

I used to have it over Teleclub but cancelled it a couple of years ago cause the coverage became ridiculous. I'll be moving soon and don't think it would be a good way to start the renting relationship by boxing through my right to satellite TV as it says on the contract in bold that satellite TV is strictly forbidden. I've refused to switch to Swisscom as the don't offer HD which is for me a minimum for the price is costs. My new appartment has this at least

So to my question. Do Teleclub on Swisscom offer the full coverage of football?

So 3 games on Saturday, 13.45, 16.00, 18.30
and at least 2 games on Sunday, 14.30 and 17.00
plus a game on Monday night.

And how much of this is in HD?

Thanks for any answers

Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

RE. satellite. They cannot bar you from watching satellite - the only thing they can do it stop you from having a permanent dish on your balcony/attached to the building. However you could always run a 'portable' dish. As long as it's not permanently fixed, they cannot say anything.

Personally I survive with MOTD (in HD) from my cable provider (included in basic package) and the occasional internet stream (sopcast via VMware Fusion, Veetle / flash in browser) if I really want to watch a game (and can get away with it).

I tried Swisscom TV for a couple of months last year, but could not justify the cost and so cancelled it.

Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

Thanks. I know they can't ban me from having a satellite on my terrase. Those responsible for the appartment are pretty friendly towards me. I'm just not quite sure it's the best way to start the renting relationship by going against their wishes and setting up one regardless of what they say.

I've got a feeling boxing through my rights could come back to hunt me when the tables are turned.

Maybe I'll ask if one of these is acceptable as a comprimise when I see them but I doubt it. The problem with them is that they^re apparently as good as a 60cm satellite which is likely not big enough to receive the Astra 2d channels going by the maps on the internet

Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

Thanks I'm planning to try out that one in the near future as my regular website only has football games.

Define HD though. In my experience HD internet streams are roughly the same to analogue cable connection but are definitely well of TV HD standards

Anyway I'll have to check where it will placed but I'm probably going to give this a try It's the satellite above designed to look like a chair

Teleclub on Swisscom is almost exactly the same as the teleclub standalone package. The only difference is that you will have more than 3 sports channels, and sometimes (rarely), you will get the matches that the normal teleclub is not showing. The problem though is that teleclub tends to show Swiss League matches and also Ice Hockey playoffs, and if that is on as the same time as the EPL, then you are out of luck. You don't have this problem with Satellite, but sometimes EPL games get bumped by Bundesliga games - this has only become a problem this season. Also, the English commentary is also now gone.

So there's still no way to have paid for EPL full matches on any of the cable providers?? I find that incredible.

As mentioned before, Teleclub. 3 matches per weekend last season I believe, no idea what this season will bring.

There are always other means....

You are not living in the UK so why do you find that incredible?

Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

Because Ive lived in NZ where they had at least 5 games live per week and sometimes 2 if not 3 games simultaneously live for a 3pm kickoff. And because there are loads of brits so you'd think someone would have milked that cow.

The 3 games per week on Teleclub in the above posts dont look reliable. I am getting cable subscription sorted out soon for the first time and I dont want to commit to Teleclub without knowing what Im getting for it.

Basically comes down to cost - EPL charges a considerable amount for broadcast rights and only big channels and providers outside of UK can afford and justify this.

If that cow was really here to be milked someone would be doing it. For the Swiss* the EPL is at best number 3. Certainly after the Swiss domestic league and the German league. Maybe on a par with Italy and Spain in terms of interest. In terms of domestic football interest what competition does the EPL have in new Zealand?

BTW you are probably right not to trust Teleclub to show many games. I had a Sky Deutschland subscription years back (when they were still Premier) and cancelled because they cut the number of games they showed. Teleclub basically piggy-back on Sky Germany's coverage (there seems to be some sort of rights sharing between the two splitting cable and satellite coverage).

There are alternatives which in Switzerland are probably not even illegal. I didn't miss a single Spurs game last season apart from when I was on holiday.

*Edit - Swiss Germans. I guess those living south of the Alps might rather look south for their footie.

I had Teleclub (Cablecom) for six years until this summer, but cancelled it because their coverage of the Premier League is getting worse and worse IMHO. I know they only take the German Sky feed, but they tend to only show the "big" four/five, and even then there'll be a random 2. Bundesliga game on instead of a more interesting (for me) Premier League game. Each to their own and all that, and of course that's fine if that's the path Teleclub are treading, catering to their audience and all that, I just decided to cancel. As you say, there are other means.

Other means to watch it on the TV? I'm not keen to faff with sattelites while were still renting and streaming sites are a bit hit and miss.

Have VPN so would be interested to hear if there are any solutions that utilise that maybe? PM if you don't want google to see what you're typing

Nope - it is streaming I'm talking about. Fortunately one of the main EPL streamers with a very high quality stream (at least as good as SD TV) is a Spurs fan.
