Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

Are there any German cable channels you can get the carry the EPL? Here in Romandie we can pay for Canal+ (a French cable channel), we get 4-5 EPL per weekend, always the monday night game, and we get an extra Champion's League as well. But the rest of the games are mostly Ligue 1, it's rare to get a Bundesliga game. They do have them, but they are mostly on an extra pay channel.

Alternatively, avoid knowing the results after full time and settle down with a few beers and some munchies, for an evening with Gary and the boys for MotD.

Just the best bits and goals from all Saturday Premiership games.
How can I watch MotD in Switzerland?

From my very preliminary research, Swisscom has BBC1 in a few of the packages (ie not just the 250+ channel one, that one has all BBC, some ITV and Ch4).

Alternatively you can also get VPN services (eg Tunnelbear at 5 USD per month) so that you "pretend" to be in the UK and can just watch MoTD live/on iPlayer like you can in the UK.

Then Zattoo. Completely free for SD, depending on your mobile subscription (! - applies to certain Orange subs) can be free for HD.

Or change cable provider (or possibly subscription)

I can also recommend Zattoo. Even the basic package with ads is all good.

Over cable with Cablecom, Swisscom; satellite probably, too; online with Swisscom TV, Zattoo, BBC iPlayer with a VPN and connect to TV (Zattoo has an app. on smart TV, so no connection necessary).

Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

So upon further investigation, Teleclub claim to show up to 4 games per gameweek. That's great, that could mean 0....

Ffs, I think I'm going to go with Swisscom and just buy games at 4.50 each and see if that works, otherwise f'k it I'll stream them.

You are not living in the UK so why do you find that incredible?
It's actually harder to watch the EPL in the UK than in Asia, US or south america, for example. In the UK, you need to subscribe to Sky.

In these other places, your cable service (that comes with your rented apartment) may already include the football. I watched a lot more football when living in Singapore and almost none while living in London.

Hell, you can't even watch the 3pm Saturday games live on the UK subscription channels due to some dumb regulations!

Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

yep, in India, Singapore, South Africa, watched loads of EPL, they must flog it cheap there, it all gets bundled up with everything else.

Recently I've used sky TV's new online service and a VPN to get the 10 24 hours access to all of sky sports - worth it for key sporting events. You don't need to be a subscriber.

That's a lot for 24 hours in my book. I had a "Sky go only" subscription in the UK before I left. 35 GBP per month (40 if you want to add movies) you can watch Sky on your computer without any other subscription. (hidden towards the bottom of that page)

http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/sky-go/

The best bit is that it was rolling monthly subscription so that you can for example cancel it for the summer or winter, depending on your sport preference and of course youre not tied into a 12 month contract or whatever.

Thanks for reminding me of this, I might end up goiing back to this if Teleclub turn out to be pants. Though as it's been mentioned above, the 3pm kick off blackout is unique to the UK and sucks...

Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

If Sky / Cablecom had a reliable, flexible, legitimate paid service at a reasonable price, I would happily use it, but they don't. I'm sure Sky have done their sums, and use what their analysts tell them is the optimal pricing model, but it doesn't offer what I want at the right price, so I watch online instead.

Free:
I used to rely on the free live streams, but got fed up with the flaky connections and stuttering transmissions, so looked for something better. If you want a free stream, this page is a good start: http://shadygiz.blogspot.co.uk/. Forget the page title. He's a Man City fan, but carries an exhaustive list of all live streams. Amusingly though, he sometimes puts the Man United list at the very bottom of the page, so just do a Search rather than sprain your index finger with endless scrolling.

Paid:
My experience is that paying a small subscription makes a huge difference to the quality. Originally I used a service mentioned earlier in this thread (liveonlinefooty.com) but they went belly up a year or 18 months back. This is an occupational hazard, so avoid annual subscriptions to minimise possible losses.

For the last year or two I've used http://plus1hd.com/ and have found them generally excellent, with only very occasional technical issues. (I just checked the link, and see that they are having their annual subscription revamp, so you may not see much at the moment. Check back closer to the start of the season.)

Typically, the streams are rock solid with all EPL and the odd Championship game covered. You also get the main Italian, Spanish and Bundesliga matches, particularly outside the Saturday afternoon slot. Cost was around 7 Canadian dollars per month last season (which may offer a clue as to where they are based). You can have more than one streaming session going at a time. I use AirPlay to watch the main game through the TV. The stream is usually good enough quality to forget that it's not a standard TV channel.

Pub:
For more sociable types, most 'Irish pubs' or English-style bars will show live English football. In Zurich, Paddy's, The Nelson and Kennedy's are the best known but there are probably separate threads about them. If you support a less fashionable club, beware that there's a strong bias towards the top of the table clubs so it's worth phoning ahead to make sure they'll be showing the one you want to see.

Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

Not sure if the change in rights from Sky to NBC has made a difference here, but I was hoping to subscribe to EPL games by enhancing my UPC bundle package; however, not so easy to understand from the website if that's possible. Can anyone help? Also, the PPV gig is a little rich for my liking (6.99 per game).

Re: Premier League on swiss tv??

I have had the UPC combi service for several years, bundled tv internet & phone, started at 60/mth then upgraded to a horizon set top box to be able to record, and paid 95/mth. The TV service included BBC 1-4 and ITV 1-3, really great service, you still wont get every EPL game live though
