How to cancel Orange contract: where do I send a letter?!

You'll laugh at me, but I can't find anywhere on orange.ch the address to send a letter to, and the people in the Orange store look blankly at me and say "uh call the hotline". Yeah no thanks, don't want to spend 1000 hours on hold.

Here's what happened:
1/28/09: contract signed with orange
2/15/11: go into an orange store, and find out it already auto-renewed. F#$%. had no idea that could happen, and was very pissed off.
Now it's August 2011 and we're in the third year of the 2 year contract ()... and I still want to cancel it. I just don't know how!

Is there a way to cancel it immediately or do we have to wait until within 30 days of 1/28/12? Either way, what do I write and where do i send the letter?

man this shouldn't be so freakin hard

good luck... Orange are thieves.

Even if you do manage to cancel it they will still add at least an extra month and if they owe you money you'll never see it again even if they say they are sending a refund it never turns up.

I don't know anyone who's had an Orange contact who hasn't ended up being ripped off by them.

Sigh, yeah, I expect as much - already a bad sign

But nonetheless, if anyone has any experience cancelling, that would be great... and would be great to know if i can do it before the 3 year anniversary of my 2 year contract...

This is the address on the monthly bill:

Orange Communications SA
Rue du Caudray 4
Case postale
CH-1020 Renens 1

I would send a registered letter there and if you're opening a new contract with Swisscom or someone else, sign up to transfer your number. Swisscom, etc. should know who to contact as well.

Google whoever is CEO of Orange CH. Write a letter to him/her and mark it as personal. Express your outrage at this theft and ask (all politely) for a immediate cancellation. Do point out any cases of why the phone/service doesn't work for you (if that is the case), any bad service you might have received (if that is the case), and that they are already beyond the initial 2 year period (which means that they should have gotten their money back from you).

Then prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

They might stick to their guns, in which case you can stick with the phone until end of next renewal and cancel then, or offer you a cancellation fee (pay line rental until cancellation) or cancel for free (lucky you).

If they offer options 1 or 2, then you may be able to reduce your subscription to the lowest paying one possible (or pay as you go) and stick the phone in a drawer, never to be used again until the official cancellation date.

Oh, and don't forget to send the letter by registered post.

I have no information on cancellation but the three times that I called orange in the last 3 months I was speaking to someone within 3-4 minutes (including all the bloody automatic choices).

Anyway best of luck and les us know how you get on, will probably be in a similar boat in 12 months time.

Agreed. My husband used to have Orange, and he didn't have reception half of the time. Sometime later, he talked to his company, who agreed to pay his mobile bill (on-call work). He just had to cancel Orange and get the number transferred to the provider they used. Not so simple!

First of all, Orange said it was ok to transfer, but the new provider kept sending us letters that the transfer had been refused. This went on for months. All of a sudden, the people at Orange were claiming he had to pay the next bill. Well, after a few months of back and forth, we find out they thought he owed a bill from 2 years before. He talked to them, and they said, "oops, no, you don't have to pay. We'll cancel your contract." He asked if he had any fee to pay and the answer was a no. Number was transferred, and we thought we had heard the end of it.

Oh, no. A month or so later, we get a bill from a collection agency (on behalf of Orange) for something like 300 CHF, threatening us to pay within x days or else! Now, we had never received any bill of the sort from Orange (so how had it been escalated to a collection agency for failure to pay?), and they had assured us there was absolutely nothing to pay in bills, cancelation, etc. Nice.

So, never again will we consider Orange. It was such a nightmare. Though I have no idea if the others are better.

Anyway, good luck. I hope your experience is better than ours was.
