To cut a long story short it appears that entire internet presence of the person who hosts my webspace and personal email has disappeared overnight. Obviously this means that my web presence has also disappeared. This person was providing this to me for free through a family arrangement, so I have no cause to complain. It may be that it comes back up, but given the extent of the disappearance and that this person has not been without financial difficulties, I'm kind of assuming the worst.

For me personally it's not as much of a disaster as you may think as the email account was mostly unused, and the webspace was pretty much only used to host images - an unfortunate consequence of this is that pretty much all the images I've ever posted to this and other forums are now no longer available.

So suggestions for a cost effective replacement wouldn't go amiss. I know there are free ones available, but they seem pretty limited in terms of storage, and there's a good chance that I now want to add a couple of .ch domains.

Yeah fair enough. I suppose I did type that quickly whilst feeling a bit PO'd.

The ones that have been mentioned in those links look a little small for what I think I need. I reckon I'll need 2-4Gigs of webspace - I don't just use it to host small images, but to pass around full res stuff as well, either through FTP or web download.

When I say cheap, what I mean is that I'm prepared to pay up to 4-500Chf for hosting per year to ensure I get the storage I need.

I use www.hostgator.com, paying $9.90/month, unlimited space, band and domains. Currently I host several small sites there (.com, .ch and .com.br), from my family.

It works pretty good, support online fast and effective, never had any issue with them.

A friend just signed up with www.webhostinghub.com, and is also very satisfied.

I use www.office365.com
