UPC Cablecom

Hi

I am quite new in Switzerland and I am looking for good internet package.
I notice if I am taking DSL internet, I need to pay fixed network phone line around chf 25 per month. I hardly use a phone line so I think it will be wasted.

So I am looking for another option and found UPC cablecom. Their offer for Power Fiber Internet seems very good (very fast connection). Sorry if I ask a stupid question, do I still need fixed network phone line if I subscribe to UPC Cablecome power fiber internet? Or I just need to plug the modem on the wall (apartment which has UPC cablecom already) and then that's it?

Thank you for the response! really appreciate it.

You don't need a phone line, I have it without.

Re: UPC Cablecom

No phone is needed, the UPC Cablecom signal arrives via the cable TV co-ax cable.

BUT, are you sure you have a Cablecom TV connection? Many apartments do not.

Re: UPC Cablecom

Note that cablecom also receive 25 francs a month for line rental. It is normally included in the the nebenkosten. Cablecom will block the socket on request and you are then entitled to request a reduction in your nebenkosten.

Re: UPC Cablecom

Service costs. it covers things like garden maintenance, communal electricity costs e.g. hall lights. It's part of your rent.

Re: UPC Cablecom

I have Cablecom and like it a lot. I did have a problem with TV part getting stuck on finalize. I needed to get the SmartCard activated.

One last thing. On your controller is an "i" button. If you press it then you will get the option to change the language to English.

Re: UPC Cablecom

What would happen if I make a contract for one or two years with cablecom and then I have to leave Switzerland? Do I have to pay for the whole time before leaving the country?

Thanks

You pay for the time you use the service.

When you shift to a new location where upc cablecom is not available, then they cannot continue charging you.

Thanks for the answer. I didn't know that.

I have a two-years contract because I have their router. I will ask them.

Though of course that is only if you get their digital package. Basic tv you don't get their box.

With cablemodem you don't need a phone line, you need a TV line. You don't have to pay for a phone line but you may need to pay to have a TV line installed.

Re: UPC Cablecom

never use UPC Cablecom. UPC customer service on phone are absolute abusive idiots. they advertise as cheapest but that comes with them overcharging on invoices, and not giving a damn about rectifying their mistakes and slapping a fine. I have never received such abusive service and will take to a omundman or lawyer for their abusive criminal activity. gladly pay more for other carriers. DO _NOT USE. Scam artists

I'm not a fan of international conglomerates, BUT: I've been with UPC since it was Redifusion in 1989. I have never had a problem with them. They offer a great service at a competive price...

Re: UPC Cablecom

Customer service, no problem, nice people, but as a company they, and their equipment truly suck. Big time.

I have similar issues with invoices and I can tell you, they have a truly mixed bag of people in CS, I have learned to simply hang-up and redial when I get one of those and 9 out of 10 the next call is a really nice person, helpful and very welling to correct any invoice wrongdoing with an extra added for the inconvenience.

Re: UPC Cablecom

Hi,

never had a problem with them. Their customer service tends to be a lot better than Swisscom.

Have fun

Re: UPC Cablecom

well I think it depends on who you get on the other end of the line. I have had some bad experience with Germans. Especially if you ask them to repeat what they said because they speak so fast. Arrogant bunch
