hi eva_maria,

you must subscribe in Italy (you need an Italian address to do so) or someone living there should subscribe on your behalf.
then, you can take your set top box anywhere covered by the satellite footprint (that is pretty much all over western/central europe).

and, swans1984 is right... it is not legal.

Depending on the channels you need to have access to, there's also another cheaper solution.
It's called TVSat.
It's a "digitale terrestre" via satellite.
You have to buy a decoder and a card (cost 99€).
Activate it via internet and the game is done.
Anyway, this is not legal as well as SKY but i've both

Hope this helps!

Re: anyone managed to use italian SKY in Lugano?

Before starting using the term illegal do keep in mind that this is something different from "Terms and conditions". The T&Cs may (or may not) state that a service is not allowed to be used outside of it's defined boundaries, but that doesn't qualify it for being illegal. An illegal (aka unlawful) act is when a law is broken.

That said, get your box and set it up. No one will ever find out and worst thing that can happen is that they (i.e. Sky) will cut the connection. I have had my Irish Sky for well over 10 years now and never used in within Ireland. I'm quite sure SKY knows that 100,000's of subscriptions are outside the country but turn the blind eye. Highly doubt that SKY Italy would be much better

With the UK Sky you don't even need a subscription to get get the free to air channels in Switzerland. The signals are there for the taking and they can't stop you.

Technically, the FTA (as well as the FTV) channels have nothing to do with SKY except that they (i.e. BBC/ITV etc) pay SKY for their EPG position and soft scrambling (need a card but no subscription).
