SASAG wireless internet slow?

Does anyone else using SASAG that their wireless is rather slow? Especially watching tv online? We have Fiberspeed 10 and I can upgrade to Fiberspeed 25 but before I do that (25 CHF more) I like to hear from your experiences. Unfortunately I do not have a choice, Sasag is the only provider here.

Re: SASAG wireless internet slow?

Too many variables involved in a slow wireless connection... Search the forum for things you can do to improve a wireless connection first.

Are you achieving the quoted speeds ?, i.e. do you get anywhere near 10Mbps from their 10Mbps package ? If not, then you won't get any faster from a faster package most likely. Also , wireless for streaming TV/Video is not a good option. I stream wirelessly over a 300Mbps link, achieving an actual 60Mbps , and the quality is still poor.

Pop over to speedtest.net , run a test and see what you get there.

If it is a newish Macbook, it will have an "N" wireless adaptor , so should be good for 300Mbps in theory. Real world speeds around 50-80Mbps. All these will exceed your ISP speed, so the speedtest report should indicate the overall quality of your wireless connection to your ISP.

Re: SASAG wireless internet slow?

Change your Channel in your router. Probably ist that the problem. You use the same as your neighbors and there are interferences by sending packets and the conection ist consequently slower...

Most of the routers come with the same channel by default.

Re: SASAG wireless internet slow?

i'm with sasag and think i'm on the 25 package. this is my result:

if you're on the 10 package, then 10 down, 1 up sounds about right.

i can watch bbc iplayer ok, but that's the only online tv i watch except for youtube, which also works fine. these both also worked with packages slower than the fiber 10 you already have.

Hmm that would be it, this is a lesson to mention things like this.

It's critical to diagnosis of your problems.

Re: SASAG wireless internet slow?

Did you resolve your issue? I'm just moving to Schaffhasuen and have to use SASAG and was wondering which package to use.

In South Africa at the moment I have a 4.0 MBPS connection (that's as fast as you can get down here) and BBC iPlayer, 4OD etc work very nicely via my UK VPN. iTunes movies are slow to download though. So I don't think you need megaspeed to get a good result. It works fine over wifi too, even on a g band connection.

Cheers John
