HI - i have not posted in awhile because I am myself posted in Luxembourg these days during the week, and my company phone is being switched so I have to get a mobile for CH again.

This sounds a bit low-tech but I wanted to know, can I just buy a cheap GSM phone here in Auchan Lux or such and plonk one of these cheap prepaid SIM cards like yallo or whatever in CH ? I just assume the phone will be two times cheaper here.

It depends. The free/cheap ones on contracts will be locked (you pay for the phone by paying the monthly fees), phones which come without a contract you will be buying outright so won't be SIM-locked.
