Hell froze over?

I just had not one, but two VERY pleasant experiences with Orange and UPC.

I changed my address and wanted to let them know. Firstly, I see that now BOTH of them have a system where THEY call you back. For Orange I called customer care and left a number on the machine and they called me back in like 2 minutes. For UPC it's even more shocking, they have a button on their website "call me" and it calls you instantly!

Secondly, I spoke both on Orange and UPC to some very nice ladies. They were supremely helpful and also very enjoyable (trading jokes, comments about how some one-off charges suck etc) and made the whole thing a very relaxing experience. The UPC lady even convinced me on the spot to get the TV package for 12.5 chf, although I don't watch that much TV ...I guess I was so shocked I couldn't say no. And apparently you can now do the contract over the phone, you get asked some questions, you agree to them and that's that...no paperwork!

So true, I haven't tried speaking to Orange or UPC customer care in like a year, but hey, if it's now like this I'd just like to say again: wow, well done!

Re: Hell froze over?

Tried calling Orange several times...
Automated IVR's seems to be their style.
Amazing that you got hold of a live person, congrats!

Don't forget to press 0 on the keypad after you get past the level 1 menu. They actually don't say in the recorded message that you can press 0 to talk to a human being...but I know better

Re: Hell froze over?

I've always had excellent, helpful and friendly service from Orange and Swisscom.
Wasn't the case with Cablecom back in the day, maybe they've changed for the better

I just don't understand how being persuaded to take a TV package you don't want is a pleasant experience in any way shape or form

Re: Hell froze over?

It's not the destination...it's the voyage . Like, you know, having a nice dinner & conversation with a really pretty lady can be a pleasant experience even if you don't want to take her home afterwards...

And anyway, I didn't say I didn't want/need the package, just that I don't watch that much TV. I mostly took it because
a) it's nice to have something running in the background when you have people over for example. Like today, when I was cooking lunch with a colleague and he asked me if we can turn on the big-a$$ flatscreen I have (left to me by the owner of the apartment...hell froze over twice?), at which point I just shrugged and showed him the end of the cord which wasn't plugged-in anywhere
b) i thought watching swiss/german tv, while lame, would still improve my language skills
c) the lady presented it in a nice-enough light, told me i get a 50% discount (current running offer), told me ALL english channels I'd get, ALL HD channels I'd get and was generally so uber-helpful that it seemed like a good idea at the time

Re: Hell froze over?

Aaah you do know that offer is for a year. In a year from now you're paying full price. But english tv is pretty fine. I still have the old system and only pay 6sfr a month, don't dare to change anything
