Re: UPC Cablecom - NEW HD Box Launching in Nov '11

Finally got around to wiring up my network, and the Horizon box is now happily streaming all of my content from my laptop, though the clunky GUI interface is still a damn pain in the arse. Still can't browse the box to delete recordings though, maybe that's only possible on Windows 8.

Re: UPC Cablecom - NEW HD Box Launching in 2012

Hi,

I also got such a box. Is there a way to add the contents of the HDD as a shared folder in windows? I would like to use it as a media server and copy movies I downloaded from internet to the HDD of the box.

I am using the box as my main and only router. My laptop connects to the box through wlan.

I shudder at the thought of using my Horizon box for wifi <shudder smiley>. A far better idea would be to downgrade it to a switch and connect that up to a manly router, like this one from ASUS.

How would you downgrade it to a switch?

You can't really, because you can't set it to bridge mode. All you can do is disable WiFi and DHCP and hook it up to a different router.
