Re: Super offer- LED tv available@migros

Really don't read too much into the numbers... Go and look at them back to back, the refresh-rate is irrelevant with out knowing the screen's reaction time! Samsung use a motion plus system that does some cleaver stuff.

I would doubt that a philips would have as good of a contrast ratio, brightness and all the other really useful and interesting stuff, but at the end of the day a person should buy a set on what they think looks best for their sort of programming and sitting comfortably in their design aspirations.

All that said MediaMarkt oft have some tasty deals if they are shifting large quantities for the manufacturer.. Bottom line you need to go see the things in action...

I have a few questions for you Mr. bigblue2 if I may...

1) Where can one find these parts and a soldering iron in Switzerland? Is there a large Radio Shack style store here, where you can buy these? And how much are these items - are they grossly inflated in price as apposed to the UK or North America?

2) Is this a deal not to pass up? Or will there be deals like this coming up around Xmas?

(excuse my ignorance to these topics. I'm just so new to CH, it would be great to get some more info about this, before jumping into a purchase)

Cheers!
sorry missed your post, conrad sell everything you need, or, if you get the problem, take the back off the tv and get the psu board number, type it into ebay and there will be a kit with everything you need, basically a few higher rated capacitors. buy them on there own for a couple of francs each, or pay the extra for someone to have stuck them all in a bag for you for mine its 3 capacitors need changing iirc, which is about 1 worth from maplin

TV's a coming down in price almost daily, especially NOS (new old stock) like these, so I wouldn't worry too much, every couple of months Aldi sell off cheap tv's too, median, but you can bet your bum they are just rebadged samsungs too.

Hey Tschortscho!!
it's all in the head,mate!!
am sure migros hasn't opened the boxes at all, they've simply slipped their attractive green budget sleeve on!!!
How did it go? Did you try changing the tv's settings, as shown in the video?
Do let me know how it went!!
@McClane: I finally unboxed the TV and the image looks good enough to me! I didn't get the time to sit in front of the TV for more than a few minutes though, so I'll have to wait a few more days before I can really say whether I'm satisfied with the purchase.

As for the change of the TV settings to enable the playback of movies from a USB stick, you'll have to try out yourself, mate! I'm actually not particularly interested in having this feature... All I want is a TV that is just a regular TV with a decent picture, and for now this one seems to fit the purpose.

Re: Super offer- LED tv available@migros

Yeah, I just bought this tv (haven't unboxed it yet). The price was considerably cheaper than anything else on the market I could find and I like Samsung TVs.

That being said, the connectors on this machine are very limited - 2 HDMI inputs and that is the only option for sound too (i.e. no little headphone jack input). The connectors are a reason the tv would be cheap.

I just wanted a cheap, LED LCD TV and I figured it was a great deal.

There IS a headphone jack. It is behind the tv, somewhere in the center. I use it all the time,as my speakers are connected thru there.

Thanks for the advice! It is a headphone jack but it is out, not in.

I have a funny setup where I need a headphone jack line-in to go from my computer so I can play my computer on the tv with sound. I haven't figured out how to get sound over HDMI yet from the computer to the tv.

Has anyone had any success upgrading the tv to play video from the USB?

Re: Super offer- LED tv available@migros

Hey !! Anytime!!

After you connect your comp. to the tv, Just connect your headphone/speaker/amplifier to your computer? You Do get the connectors, in the store.

I have written to the others , today,on the above mentioned video, publicly and privately, on youtube. They have all given positive replies, except for the fact that-
After this hack,
1) YOU LOSE YOUR WARRANTY
2)THE BUTTONS/CONTROLS ON THE TV(not the remote) STOP WORKING.

All types of video files are now playing flawlessly, though.
I will be doing it myself, in the coming weekend.

Re: Super offer- LED tv available@migros

Decided to continue this thread with this:

I visited Conforama for the first time today and saw this on sale for 599CHF:

http://www.conforama.ch/produit_tx-p...3_42119_479018

For the last few years I have been very happy with TH42PX70 (older 42" plasma with HD-ready), but would like to upgrade for 50" and FullHD.

I tried to google for pros and cons but could not find anything usefull. Can anyone give me any comments about this model? Price seems nice..

What is the catch in this
