| | Does anybody know a computer producer with good warranty service?
Hello,
I am very very unsatisfied with the warranty service of my producer's laptop and I am searching to buy a new one.
Can anybody recommend my a computer company with good warranty service?
Please, let me know.
Cheers

I heard Apple and their AppleCare were highly regarded. What is the brand of your current machine in question ?

Warranty services... I guess it will be very hard to find a statisfying one...
I use a HP PC, actually up to now the service was alright, not statisfying but 'alright'. If you bother them long enough, they will replace anything.
Also they send technicians around after they sent you like ten updates for your bios, even though your display is physically broken, however at the end your machine is working again and so I guess they are somehow doing their job.
Otherwise I also would recommend you Apple too, they have got high service standards.

As a long time PC used who switched to Mac two years ago, I am quite satisfied with AppleCare. I would encourage anyone to buy the extended warranty if you plan on using the computer beyond 1 year.
In fact, I was on the phone with them last night regarding a battery issue and they agreed to replace it, even though the battery is two years old. They would send it to me or let me come in to an Apple store. As I bought the Mac in the US and am currently living in Spain, I consider that good service!
Good luck.

i've also heard good things about applecare. i think it is a tough decision since even with warranty, it is an inconvenience to get things fixed.
the alternatives are:
1. buy a reliable laptop that doesn't break. after comparing various different models in use at my old company (which had thousands) i bought a dell model which seemed to have no problems - was still ticking 6 years later, although it has now developed a problem with the power button.
I figure if you can make it past 4 years, it will probably be obsolete by then and will be time to replace.
2. use a desktop instead. parts are more generic and easy to find a geek to swap out dead parts for you.
if you don't mind using a mac, then an apple laptop + applecare could be a good plan. only last 3 years though, so you will have to upgrade every 3 years to keep covered.
i've gone back to using desktops now as they are far more reliable and easy to fix when they do break. plus upgrading is easier and cheaper.

They have a number of options for worldwide waranty and to extended the standard one. http://www.lenovo.com/services_warranty/uk/en/hho.html has more info in English, but the swiss site has the same info only in german/french.
Their main offices/repair centre is just outside ZH in case of future issues. That said, I've been using a Thinkpad for the last 12 years daily without issue (yet).

I called Lenovo, tech guy showed up the next day as promised, fixed it, done.

Although I'd advise keeping the money in the bank to buy a new one should it pack up during the 3rd to 5th year period.
Currently the newest macs that are unable to run Lion are the core solo and core duo models which are pretty much coming up to 5 years old if not older.

Mostly, the logic boards (especially the graphics boards soldered onto them) fail after a while. I can only speculate about the reasons for that, but I'd say it's because Macs tend to have a very conservative cooling policy - rendering them nice and quiet but also very hot, which shortens the life expectancy of the main board, the graphics board and the CPU. Unfortunately, getting a logic board exchanged costs around 900 to 1200 fr., depending on the model. AppleCare is ok. Apple doesn't offer any on-site service, though. So if your computer breaks, you'll have to take it to a service center. Repair times vary greatly: if you're lucky enough to live near an official Apple Store, you're looking at 1-5 days after you managed to get an appointment. If you live in the boondocks, it'll be more like 3 weeks.
If it's only warranty and speedy problem fixes that count, go with Dell and their extended on-site plans. They show up quickly and fix everything instantly.

Been supporting laptops for many years now, also sold (and supported) several hundred of the things in my old job. From experience get a Lenovo or Apple. Apart from them having ok warranty service they also, in my experience, were the least likely to break. Dell used to be good 10 years ago but these days not so much. Also somebody mentioned the on-site warranty upgrade, a couple companies including Dell, HP and Lenovo offer this and it's really worth the extra cash.

My macbook core duo is still running despite being 5 years old and doesn´t even feel that "old". Only thing going wrong was the keyboard, but that was probably because the wife had a minor tea accident. A friend easily swapped the keyboard and no problems since...
Though, I do start lusting for an Air....
