Has anyone seen this show from AMC?. WOW. I was worried, but I am officially hooked on this series. Anyone else hooked on it? Anyone dislike it? I would love to hear what other people think of it. I have never been a bit fan of apocalypse shows, but this show is really well done. I believe it is either available to watch on Swiss cable or coming very soon. Thoughts?

You can see it on one of the HD channels on Cablecom. It is either TNT Series HD, Fox HD or SyFy HD. Every now and then they have an evening with a whole lot of episodes.

I loved the 1st series and have dl'ed the 1st 2 episode of series 2. Have not yet had time to watch them though.
I've been following the comics as well - how does the series hold up in comparison? [no spoilers please, haven't managed to put my hands on any legal or not-totally-overpriced copies yet]

The pacing and graphicallity. Of it is different. Plus, so much shit happens to Rick that you just want the zombies to eat everyone. :P

I have read some of the comics as well. There are extra characters in the movie, but I think overall it is a pretty good adaptation. I try not to compare the books and series and just judge the show as a stand alone. The director does a great job of developing the characters. It is not your typical horror/sci fi where everyone is expendable and you don't care about any of them. The director is Frank Darabont who directed "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile" both of which I love.

I love it! But I have to admit, that I am always scared when watching it :P (maybe I should stop watching it at night, alone). Very nice graphics and make-up...
I haven't read the comics, but maybe I should give it a try!
they have now made the characters into your standard horror movie clones, the women scream a lot, run from zomibes and fall over etc etc, really disappointing
I really don't understand what happened between season 1 and 2, they must have fired all the writers and bought in a whole load of cheap morons, "I know, lets make this woman who was strong in season 1 into your standard dumb blond, who can't run without falling over, and in every episode make sure she is chased, just so one of the men can save her, again"
"lets make a guy slice open his main artery on a car windows (ffs) while hiding"
I agree that so far the second is not as good as the first, but since we are only 2 episodes with 11 to go, I hope that it will get back to how the first was. I still find it very entertaining, though.
Walking Dead is a frustrating show for the moment. Zombie action is always good, but the execution of the show so far leaves much to be desired. I didn't read far into the graphic novels, but enough to see the potential and how the show is just constantly failing to live up to it. It's like the story is right there, but they keep on approaching it from the wrong angles.
And I'm puzzled by people who say the character work in this show is good. Did anyone see the last episode?
How many scenes of "Don't go Rick!" are we going to get. He's the only one with his son's blood type and all he can think about is running after his wife or later Shane. Then his wife arrives and bitches at the vet for having the audacity to save her son. Umm, we're in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, lady, where exactly are we going to go get a second opinion?
People just don't act like this. And that's what the graphic novel did really well in comparison. They felt like real people with decent survival instincts who made logical choices AND still ended up dying in shocking and unexpected ways. The world they live in just that damn cruel and bleak. Things are going to go wrong no matter how hard you try and the only option to avoid that is to curl up and die. The people in the TV show make stupid choices, spend most of their time whining about their feelings, and the body count stays low. They don't strike me as the type of people who would survived their first zombie encounter, much less survived this long.
It's disappointing because Episode 1 of the series was far better than book 1 of the graphic novel. It was shaping up to be an adaptation that outdid the original. Then they took a left turn and just can't seem to recover.

I rather like the show. It's an hour of escapism where I can just sit and enjoy it with a glass of wine. I don't go any deeper than that, it's about Zombies after all.

the first series was mildly annoying, so you have lots of military hardware laying around, tanks, humvee's etc and what do you drive?? a knackered old campervan (that keeps breaking down) and old pickup, you get hold of a brand new mustang (or whatever it was) and strip it for parts, parts for what??? the wheels going to fit on that campervan or 4x4 are they??
would you be taking that nice military m16 machine gun or use you poxy police issue 6 shooter?
the zombies are thick and slow, so do you
a) barricade yourself in an easily defendable multi-story location (with car access for you humvee with machine guns blazing)
c) live on a nice big boat on a deep lake where they cannot get you
b) sleep in tents in the open
but all that I could get past, it was enjoyable, but season 2, my god!! there is an interesting thread on imdb (may have been removed now) where one of the old writers rips into s2
s2 started promisingly but went down hill really really quickly, with the little girl running away, bloke cutting his arm (wtf!!) and blond woman screaming and falling over a lot, I hoped ep2 would be better but no, blond woman still screams and falls over etc etc its all gone very hammer house of horror now

They now how more episodes this season for less money. Do the math. The end of the last episode was the most interesting thus far. You'd think more episodes would mean more fun and not just spreading it thinly to last
I've just started to watch season 2. I had not heard about it until last month so I missed the whole 1st season. I do find it very violent and over the top but I do like it.Tonight in Hong Kong is a huge halloween street party on where the theme is ' walking deads' .
