Medion notebooks (and buying them from the German online shop)

Has anybody here bought a Medion notebook computer and if yes were you satisfied with your purchase? Medion has this reputation of selling relatively high-performance hardware at a cheap price compared to more established brands, but at the same time they are said to be less robust and generally of poorer quality. Did you find that to be true?

I am also interested to know if by any chance you bought your computer from the German MedionShop, which has a wider range of models on sale compared to the Swiss shop (not to mention, they are generally much cheaper). Can you get the VAT refunded if you have the goods delivered to a German address with a certificate of export?

Re: Medion notebooks (and buying them from the German online shop)

I have bought a GPS and telephone system from Medion in the past and am pleased with my purchases.

Am presently looking for a laptop for my daughter, and am seriously considering Medion, but haven't looked on their online sites - CH or DE, yet.

I've seen 2 possibles from a couple of their main retailers here in CH (Aldi and Landi - of all places) - both in their latest ad. mags.

Aldi has one with i3 processor and DVBTV - so appears to be more geared to multi-media; and Landi has one with i5 processor and 1TB memory - priced (in chufs) 649 and 699 respectively.

No link for Aldi, but Landi is here: http://www.landi.ch/img/offer/03597_...-11470x352.jpg

Description wasn't included in link, so is as follows:
