| | Cablecom Basic Combi (Ubee) + Netgear DGN2000
Hi there,
I've just started to configure the basic combi, with the great Ubee modem/ router, together with my Netgear DGN2000 to get the wireless network up and running. Unfortunately, it seems that when the Ubee gets bridged to the DGN2000 it doesn't work. The internet connection goes down.
Has anybody managed to get the basic combi working with the Netgear DGN2000? By the way, I wonder whether it's that specific Netgear model that doesn't fit together with the Ubee. Cablecom support people couldn't help on this. They simply do reckon it should work, but it doesn't.
Further detail, I've got Ubuntu only PCs, so the installation/ configuration CD they shipped is useless for me.
Cheers
Nicola

Unplug the Netgear from the Cable modem, and disable the DHCP server on the Netgear (attach a PC hardwired via a LAN cable to the Netgear and go to the Netgear Admin page where you can disable DHCP) Ensure that the default address for the Netgear does not conflict with that of the Cable Modem)
Plug the Netgear back into the Cable Modem and restart it.

Thanks very much. I disabled the dhcp on the netgear, changed its static ip address and worked. Actually, I still have got a weird issue: once the netgear gets connected to the ubee, then I can't access its web admin console anymore, at its new address. If I want to do this I've to switch it back to the PC ethernet plug directly; weird stuff.
Cheers

Nicola | | | | | You may need to forward port 80 on Ubee to the Netgear, but they may cause problems with the web admin on the Ubee. Try and set each admin page up on a different port and ensure port forwarding for each port is set up correctly to go to the right device.
Or there may be uPNP in action , so that all port 80 requests are sent to the Ubee, hard to say unless you let me know what teh HTTP error is when you try and access the Netgear.
EDIT:
WHat happens when you put the i.p. and port number directly into your browser ?
i.e. http://10.0.0.2:80 or http://192.168.0.2:80 , or whatever your Netgear IP address is ?

You're connecting the two via switch (LAN) ports right? Don't connect to the Netgear WAN port.
