Cablecom Woes

Hi Everybody,

I wonder if someone has any ideas.

I signed up with cablecom in September with the full internet, tv and telephone. The internet would not work, so one of their technicians came out to check things over and said that I could not have internet.

He sent a report to Cablecom with this, I sent the internet modem and telephone cables back, and thought nothing of it.

A while later a got a bill for everything.

I called them to rectify things.

It is now February, the issue is not rectified and I have now got a bill from a debt collection agency. Each time I call them they tell me the problem will be fixed but it never is.

Any ideas? Call a lawyer?

Re: Cablecom Woes

Phone them and tell then the story and that you expect a large discount of your remaining package for all the trouble you have been through...

Well I'm sure your address was checked by Cablecom when you registered to see if everything was correct for Internet. And if they said everthing was OK then you dont have to now pay them anything. Send them a registered letter and explain everthing. A letter is much better-they have to reply. But dont pay a cent. And don't throw away 100's of franks to a lawyer. Report them to consumer protection if necessary.

Re: Cablecom Woes

I had the same thing when we moved here 11 years ago, they kept on sending bills, i kept calling them to tell them their engineer and the customer non care line were telling me its not possible to connect but nothing happened except more bills from them + reminders.

In the end a vey strongly worded letter by registered post was what it took.

Ps. I dont think i ever sent back the modem....

Re: Cablecom Woes

Thank you for all your suggestions.

I called them yesterday and they started to give me the usual run around. I lost my cool with them ( although I did not get verbally abusive or anything ) and demanded to speak to a manager. I was told there wasn't one present, at which point I asked the lady on the phone for her name and details and that I would be making a complaint to Cablecom about the way I was being treated. She asked me to hold ( without giving me her details ) and after a few minutes someone appeared who went through my whole scenario. He promised to call me back that evening, and surprisingly enough, he did.

Essentially he sorted out the mess, gave me a 50 CHF discount for my woes, and reduced the amount requested from 576 chf to 82.10 chf, which I paid immediately online.

HOPEFULLY the problem is solved, but I remain skeptical until I get my next bill.

Re: Cablecom Woes

Cablecom had a very bad review on a program like bon entendeur a few years ago. They were slammed for their very bad customer service. Looks like things have not changed! Having said that I find that Orange are pretty bad too, good customer service would seem to be a thing of the past.
