Mail redirect

The post site has a price for mail redirect. But it is not clear what this is for. I.e. is it per month? Per week? Per day? Per item?
Anyone used this and can confirm?

Re: Mail redirect

yup. lots of my clients do. The answer to your question depnds on where you are redirecting yiur mail to, within Switerland or outside.?

Also beware that competing the online form has a surcharge. My advice is to go the post office in person.

Important small print:

Forwarding parcels and express items costs extra, i.e. the same amount again upon receipt!

Re: Mail redirect

Last time I did it, it was 20CHF for the year as far as I understand it. I still got mail redirect 4 months after I moved from old address.

Re: Mail redirect

20 Francs for a year (provided you agree to them communicating you new address to the person who sent the item, otherwise it is a bit more). This does not include parcels.

Not everyone will "accept" the new address notification, i.e. you will have to write to your bank, credit card company and a few others directly to tell them about the new address. Your post will have a message on it to say that you have to tell this particular sender about your new address.

Re: Mail redirect

You could make your life easier by staying one place for long enough for your existing mail to get a chance to catch up ...

seemed pretty clear, and then i saw this:

https://sso.post.ch/nachsendung/face...hangeStart.jsp

again, the first lines don't mention period, but i read it as if you make a permanent change, you make a one time payment of 15 CHFs, but at the bottom, it mentions payment period.

then for >4 weeks, it has just 30chfs. so would having a 4 year temporary redirect still cost 30chfs??? i guess this might be a case where i have to go and ask...

Re: Mail redirect

I think it depends on what you want:

a) you move to a new place, and you want your mail redirected until you have time to warn all people concerned (bank, etc.), that's 15-20.-/year

b) you want your mail redirected for a short period of time while you're on holidays somewhere in CH

Re: Mail redirect

Fr.20.00 is for one year. For that I paid. I moved to my present address over two years ago and all the post that still is addressed to me at the old address has been simply redirected by the local sorter without charge.

Re: Mail redirect

I also paid 15 or 20 CHF for a year this summer. If you do it online, just be sure that it starts, you should receive a welcome package with various vouchers for discounts at furniture shops. I didn't, and also didn't receive any forwarded mail. When I called them it turned out they had some problem with data transfer from the online form and so while I had paid, the service had not been activated. They then activated it for a year from that date.

Re: Mail redirect

I see 20 CHFs for 4 weeks, so I guess those who paid 20CHFs, paid 15 CHFs (first option) and an extra 5 CHF supplement for something.

This looks like it also updates your address with the person sending the mail unless you pay an additional 15CHF supplement.

The only other thing that confuses me if this is the per year cost is the asterisk with the comment: "* Bei der Berechnung der Dauer wird jeder Tag mitgezählt (z.B. 15.09. bis 29.09. entsprechen 15 Tagen)."
