My internet isn't working, Swisscom questions

* I want to get my own line put in, how do I know if I need an electrician to activate the line?
What do they normally charge in Geneva? (I was given a long list of electricians in the area to choose from to activate the line, does anyone have any recommendations?

*my internet stopped working on Wednesday, I currently live in a studio (its a house converted into 3 studios), each studio can have its own fixed line activated, but currently I'm using the internet/line of of the landlord (she ran a long cable to my room, from the router).

- I had torrent software running when I noticed it wasn't working (I don't know if I had the connection before or after I opened the torrent software, as I got home, started the torrent, went to the grocery store, came back and saw there was no internet). The I have set an upload speed to 20 kb/s or less with this torrent software.
Is it possible that they shut down the internet connection because they detected a file sharing program operating?
- I've tried turning it off and back on multiple times, for various lengths of time (including all night/all day at the University), however, it has not worked. Rather than a green light for the DSL connection, it just intermittently flashes orange.
- The landlord has been gone all week, and I don't have any of the codes to access the router (ie 192.168.1.1) and check the settings.
- The internet stopped working like this once before, and a simple reset was all that was needed

Are there any public locations in Geneva open on weekends with free Wi-Fi access?

If your internet isn't working, how did you post that?

PS - Torrent may = download/upload limits reached.

I'm currently at the university/lab/work

I thought they would just slow down your connection after you hit those limits (its Swisscom, I didn't think they had "hard" limits)

Never heard anything like that from Swisscom. Probably your landlord has DSL start:

So if you reach CHF 59 it turns off maybe. But I don't really know how this works.
