iPhone + Sunrise = A stupid 3G question

We are Sunrise Customers - ISP, Telephone and Handy.

We just got rid of the old Nokia (RIP) Handy and migrated to ...you guessed it ... iPhone 4S.

Silly question:

Why is the iPhone always asking for a Wireless connection?
Is that the only way it can connect to the Internet?

I assumed/thought we got automatic 3G connection via. Sunrise.

I'm obviously missing something very obvious here!

Iphone will use 3g no issue at all, its asking for wifi because its faster, tap the setting icon, then select wifi and turn it off if its annoying you

you can also turn on data etc from settings, network. Turn off Data roaming ASAP!!

And if you do not an unlimited data plan you might want to use the wifi when this is available...or get someone to show you the settings...you might end up with a big bill

Yep I second that. If you have a limit it's best to use wifi when possible.

Re: iPhone + Sunrise = A stupid 3G question

Thanks everyone! It's my wife's handy, I just use the one the company give me:

Well:

3G wasn't working because...roll the drums...we'd turned it off ourselves at sunrise.ch account level last year after we got data charges on the old Nokia handy.

Now:

We've installed a Sunrise App which tells us the current account details, so we can now keep an eye on the data usage levels.

That doesn't explain how we could have used ca.250MB of data between 6th Feb and today - when the phone was off for 2 weeks of that time as we were out of the country.

But that's another story!
