We watched the first episode of ARROW last night - and were left rather disappointed.
We have just finished Season 1 of Daredevil - which seemed to strike a better balance between comic book and character lead series - taking its time to crescendo to a conclusion.
ARROW meanwhile seemed to be half Batman (in a bounce round the room you can't hit me with your bullets way - and I'll jump out of a 30 storey window), half "Days of our lives" with some chronically bad acting from the family, a sprinkling of "Made in Chelsea" with "you really must have a huge massive expensive party now you are back" and finally a thin vaneer of Dexter - "I must take down bad people"
I have the rest of season 1 to watch but I wasn't left feeling that I really wanted to.

I can't say I'm a fan of Arrow or the dreadful Big Bang Theory either (the OH watches them which is the only reason I know anything about them), but if you can get to series 3 of Arrow then it might get more interesting as that's when the Flash starts appearing as they've done a spin off series for him too. The two characters pop back and forth quite a lot between the two series.
And you can look forward to another spin off "Legends of Tomorrow" which is currently being developed.
Arrow's got a 4th 24 episode series and the Flash a second series. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrow_(TV_series)
Frankly I can't see the appeal of all these comic book characters. They were okay when I was a kid, but not now I'm grown up. Yet every time I turn around there's another series/film coming out featuring them. |

I've got it sitting there half-watched and can't get myself to finish it.
And I didn't even know all these were comic-characters...
After a while, everything just becomes unwatchable. Or rather, it takes more and more effort to get yourself to watch.
Even happened with "The Mentalist", which I stopped watching half-way into the season after he got "Red John" (unless that wasn't him to begin with or there's a disciple somewhere pulling the strings, plotting for revenge...).
Then Castle...and I got really far there.
About the only exception is NCIS - I've watched every episode of every season (but not the LA franchise. Or not yet.).
Lastly, I'm really lacking the time to watch these days.
And unlike a book (which I can read fast), the tv-shows need a fixed amount of time to watch per episode (there are probably episode-guides out there where I could just read a summary and be done with it - but that would totally defeat the point...).

Very few programmes I bother to watch these days. NCIS and Bones have been the only ones recently and they both finish their runs on Sky this week. NCIS New Orleans isn't bad, but I'm not sure it'll last as long as the original. Missed the final season of The Mentalist as Channel 5, in its wisdom, decided to move it from the 9pm slot it's been in forever to 10pm instead so they could put one of their crap series on. First series of Scorpion wasn't bad - quirky characters, but some of the storylines were improbable. Ripper Street got cancelled, though it looks like the Beeb may well show the third series that Netflix is doing later this year. Final season of New Tricks later this year too and I think that's about it for me for viewing. Oh and Dr Who of course, though I'm not a fan of the single episode stories.
And the more they plug series the more put off I get. Saw an advert the other day for one starting in November!

Ah, NCSI New Orleans. Watched that one, too.
I'm a binge-viewer, sort-of. Thought about Bones (saw some on German TV), but there are how many seasons?
My health would be at serious risk.
And not to speak of work...
I only download the stuff. Don't have TV.
Now, I've really got to switch off or I'l start reading one of the ebooks I just downloaded...

Last ever series of "New Tricks" starts next Tuesday on BBC1 at 9pm. At last, something decent to watch. |

Ripper street might be worth watching this evening.
