| | Re: good TV series recomendations..... ? The Last Ship - started 2014 by TNT.
The hubby and I are both enjoying it and it is exceeding our expectations. Our "measuring stick" of good post-apocalyptic TV is how often we find ourselves ridiculing the actions of the people on the screen. While we had to give up on "The Walking Dead" because every single thing they did was stupid, "The Last Ship" cuts short our mocking comments when the actors do the right thing before we can finish. Wiki synopsis:
"At the helm of the USS Nathan James en route to the Arctic, Capt. Tom Chandler learns that the destroyer will be in the best possible place -- a circumstance his crew must utilize -- to save humanity from extinction. A virus has wiped out more than half the population since the ship embarked, and despite orders from the U.S. government to return, Chandler -- believing home is now a shadow of itself -- decides the safest place to develop a vaccine is at sea. That task falls mainly to virologist Dr. Rachel Scott, a civilian originally assigned to the Nathan James to study birds. "The Last Ship" is based on a novel by William Brinkley and is executive-produced by filmmaker Michael Bay ("Transformers")."

Deadwood
A show set in the late 1800s, revolving around the characters of Deadwood, South Dakota; a town of deep corruption and crime. (IMDb) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfMSxf6P_AM |

Narcos - excellent.
Spotless - an excellent Franco-Brit crime series with the rather lovely valet from Downton as the baddie!!
Chasing Life - about a young woman fighting cancer
Ray Donovan - speaks for itself
All available for download from the usual channels. Narcos was on Netflix, i think.
I spend a lot of time watching tv series, i download them in batches. Or daily as they come out. I hardly ever watch tv anymore.
Apart from tonight when i shall be watching a medly of Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor!!! Why not?!!!

Another vote for Narcos - beautiful period reconstruction. And the spanish speakers speak ... spanish!
Also we just blasted through all of Luther with Mrs. Zappa admiring the lead character's "acting skills", (i.e. drooling). Not enough episodes!

I've just started watching 'Game of Thrones', from the beginning - it seems reasonably good.

Once Upon a Time!! And I am not a kid! It is wonderful, wonderful and wonderful!! And if you had ever "loved" LOST, there is a lot of stuff that will remind you LOST! Even the writers are the same.
But again, LOST! I can watch it again and again!
Also, I think Mad Men is also not that bad!

"Blindspot" pilot looks good
"Lucifer" is good, but I prefered Tom Ellis in Rush
Didn't like Minority Report the tv show pilot.
"Lila and Eve" really good movie available on download.

Watched Bojack the Horseman, an animated Netflix series. Was laid up with a painfully swollen knee for a couple of days, and it was a nice way to do something when I couldn't do anything. It's a decent series, would recommend.

After bing watching our way through Fortitude we have "Suits" S05 and "Ray Donovan" S03 on the go (on a weekly basis).
We are also binge watching "Orange is the new Black" S03 and "The Knick" S01.
The former repeated the S02 trick on being slow in E01 and reminding the viewers of how isolating prison is for the women inside. The latter kicked off in incredible style with full frontal (female) nudity in the first couple of minutes - following by a rather gory surgery scene. The second episode dropped into adding depth to the characters as opposed to much in the way of surgery focus. There was brief moment of full frontal female nudity - just in case that is your requirement for good televisions
The Knick has picked up a number of awards - Chancer, or Clive Owen as he calls himself now, occasionally loses his accent - when going on House-esque rants. In fact my only concern for the program is that it is just House set in 1900. Time will tell though.

Just started Mr. Robot and finding it excellent.
A bit geeky - security expert/hacker with Asperger's style problems. The geeky details are very well done (as if you care ), so perfect for a nerd like me, but even Mrs. Zappa enjoyed it, so it clearly has more general appeal.

I can't stop this nudging thought that they are trying too hard to present hackers as these mentally sick people who can be so destructive to society and the obvious allusion to Manning, Wikileak's Asange, and Snowden.
