Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

Recently watched:
Gotham S02 - ramped up nicely - and set things going for S03
Daredevil S02 - started slowly and very dark - and it was hard to figure out the direction. However it seemed to be setting out the NY universe introducing certain characters for Defenders S01 in 2017
OITNB S04 - oh my - a season record bodycount. Superb escalation throughout the season and great to get "more background" on some characters and some on others. It wasn't a "1 per episode" and IMHO they need to get it back to that level. The last 2 episodes had real bite and the climax rather special.

Watching:
Ray Donovan S04
Suits S09
Wayward Pines S01 - 2 episodes in and there is a hint of the "The Village" about it - which isn't surprising considering Shyamalan was involved. Jury is out until we have cocked more episodes

Queued:
Containment
Penny Dreadful S03

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

Not a Game of Thrones fan so I doubt I'll be watching this either.

Unfortunately, from what's written there it sounds like a case of been there, done (doing) that, etc, etc. Have already been several shows on the alien virus theme so I can't see what makes this any different except for the author's name.

I am terrible for giving up on tv series.

Gotham - I lost interest into series 2
Ray Donavan - is very good, but again by the end of series 2..
Wayward Pines Series 1 is also very good, but didn't get into series 2. Really like Shyamalan's work, has anyone seen series 2? Any good? Maybe I need to give it another go.

Penny Dreadful - is just brilliant, all of it. Will watch all 3 series again.

I'll second that - thoroughly enjoyed that one!
I'll third that, but no spoilers, I am halfway through and can only watch it with my husband because I'm too scared/creeped out to watch it alone!

Oops! Criminal Minds is going to be down one cast member in the future as Thomas Gibson does a Jeremy.

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

Some nerdy/geek shows well worth watching

Mr Robot! Fantastic show about hackers, bit fight clubby
Silicon valley, hilarious comedy about current startup culture thats right on the nose.
Halt and catch fire, drama about early eighties computing
Better off ted, i missed this one when it came out but suprisingly funny

Cult/weird shows
Preacher, bizarre and insane based on a comic.
Ash vs The Evil dead, dark comedy in all it's evil dead gore.
Rick and morty! Brilliant cartoon about an alternate marty mcfly / doc brown combo gone insane.
Bojack horseman, drama/comedy cartoon in a world with humans and anthropormorhic animals, much deeper than it seems at first glance.

Great new show on Netflix or if you are a cunning torrent user anywhere online:

Stranger Things

To satisfy those fans of the Goonies meets the X Files in a Spielbergesque SciFi/horror way.
Based on your recommendation, Tobias, I watched the first two episodes of Series 1.. and am being completely sucked in.

Really on-the-ball great story - a Stephen King feel to it, 80s retro and yes, totally agree re the nod to the Goonies. W. Rhyder is super/in her element, as are the kids, not to mention the strong character well-cast grumpy Sheriff. Captivating.. am going back for more

Ripper Street series 4 starts on BBC2 next Monday, 22nd August at 9pm. Only 7 episodes instead of the usual 8 though.

Mr robot starts off greatly then rapidly runs out of ideas, I skipped thru the first half of the latest episode as it's pure filling material. Shame as there was so much potential.

I agree 100% with this. There is so much praise for Mr. Robot but I could never really get into it

Season 1 of billions was brilliant

Archer (season 7 just popped up on Netflix) and Bojack Horseman are the ones I watch, even though the latter is a dark comedy, and getting darker each season.

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

Frasier was one of the best comedies I've ever seen. Seinfeld as well and According to Jim.

Old but gold, so what if it's 80s..still lots of laughs.

Mr Robot indeed is way too boring on S02.

Archer for me too. It's the only series that makes me roll around laughing. So rude and off the wall that you might hate it...

I finished the last episode today (in bed with a blinding sinus head) and it was brilliant, I agree. Looking forward to series 2.
