Looking forward to series 2. | | | | | Yeah, thanks for the tip on Stranger Things - not usually my kind of thing, but am also holed-up today and it really does drag you in.

Many books I have read over the years have filled me with sadness when they come to an end. As if you're saying goodbye to the wonderful voce & mind of the writer/novellist.
I know - am odd and a bit of a saddo
'tis rare a TV drama/film does the same, but some dramas do: Pride & Prejudice, War and Peace, Stranger Things and, of course, Penny Dreadful.

I've been bing watching Dexter lately on Netflix. It's pretty amazing. Narcos is coming back later this year on Netflix. The first season was wonderful.
The best show on US TV right now is still The Americans.

cheers
SC | | | | |
I did last week, unless your a teenager/20's I would not bother.
It tried to be to clever, taking to yourself/the camera was done far better in Dexter, the story line was not good it tried to shock but not really, I found it annoying that they were happy to show someone shooting themselves in the head and taking drugs but were not allow to say f***
I'm not bothering with season 2
Another thumbs up for Archer

Jane the Virgin on Netflix is SO funny! I highly recommend. It's very light and always cheers me up.

For those of you who watch ITV early or who have kids who like CITV.
"ITV is switching off all seven of its channels for an hour to encourage people to get off their sofas and take part in sport following Team GB's Olympics success.
ITV will stop broadcasting from 09:30 on 27 August as part of the I Am Team GB campaign.
The move, organised with the National Lottery, will also see thousands of sports clubs open to let people try new sports for free.
Olympic medallists, including long jumper Greg Rutherford, will take part.
The Bank Holiday weekend event is part of the celebrations to welcome home Team GB from the Rio Olympics." http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-37116263
Just in case you wonder what's happened to the channels on the 27th. |

I just watched Marcella which is a really good edge of your seat crime thriller. And now on to Stranger Things which is also quite good. Here are some other past suggestions that are amazing:
Love
Broadchurch
Doctor Forster
The Missing
Bloodline
Stalker
Orange is the New Black
The Killing
The Affair
The Following

Just started Archer as recommended, and very much enjoy it this far, thanks for the tips!
Also curious of Stranger Things, and just watched the first two episodes, and got hooked as well! Is it just me or anyone else also think that Eleven looks like the small girl version of Christian Bale? |

I think she definitely looks like someone, I don't see the Christian Bale thing going on but she looks familiar for sure... | This user would like to thank Karin M. for this useful post:

I love Christian Bale | This user would like to thank for this useful post:

| | Re: good TV series recomendations..... ? | Quote: | | | | | "The night of" is an interesting new series. Currently on it's 3rd episode of Season 1. | | | | | Just watched the final episode. It's a good enough story but nothing special. what makes it stand out is the storytelling, the presentation, the intricate development of the characters, the portrayal of different cultures, family and relationships. A thoroughly enjoyable watch.

Downloaded the latest episode of Mr. Robot... they definitely ran out of story line ideas... pure padding material.

Have been binge watching House (all 8 seasons are on netflix and I never watched past season 4 for some reason that escapes me) and Hugh Laurie is amazing in it. I'd forgotten the Sherlock Holmes comparisons too. The soundtrack is consistently blinding ...
Have just started Blindspot. Intriguing ingredients premise, good ensemble cast. Jamie Alexander pulls off the tattooed amnesiac ninja linguist with ease but Sullivan Stapleton seems to be channelling a weaker version of Russell Crowe as he plays the rumpled, obviously tormented and conflicted (but obviously highly moralistic) FBI dude. I shall keep watching as he no doubt looks good with his shirt off. Snarf.

This programme was a one off documentary, but so astonishing that I've watched it twice ober the last two days.
The Murder Of Sadie Hartley http://www.itv.com/hub/the-murder-of...ey/2a4328a0004
My OH doesn't usually like programmes like this, but he sat for the duration with his mouth open and kept rewinding the bits to listen to again.
This isn't a documentary about a subject in hindsight. It's footage from Day 1 of a murder inquiry, including the arrests, interviews, etc...that resulted in two convictions on August 17th. | Quote: | | | | The Murder of Sadie Hartley was astonishing TV and more jaw-dropping than any fiction - review arah Williams and Katrina Walsh were found guilty of the brutal murder of Lancashire businesswoman Sadie Hartley on August 17. A mere two weeks later, ITV brought us The Murder of Sadie Hartley: that is some fast turnaround. Yet the most startling thing about it was how thorough this inside story of the investigation appeared to be. The documentary had absolutely everything – interviews with the Hartley family, interview tapes with the killers when they were in custody and all of the evidence the police amassed along the way.
They had footage of Sarah Williams being woken up at 3am and arrested. They had Katrina Walsh’s risible attempts at feigning memory loss, like a ham actor doing amateur dramatics. When the taser the two of them had used was dug from beneath a pile of horse manure, the cameras were there, and the judiciously cropped photographs that showed the murder scene gave every impression that they could have shown you the murder itself too, had they so wished. | | | | | http://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2016/0...more-jaw-drop/ |

New series of Newzoids also started again on ITV last night. | | | | | Just watching Victoria on itv. Too early to tell if it's worth watching, sets and costumes seem lavish, lighting is a bit dark, and the makeup sort of jumps out on a couple of the characters.

Surely not an original suggestion, but we've really got hooked on "The Good wife". Kinda like "Suits", but not so smartass. Chicago instead of New York. Also more interesting and grownup stories running through the whole time: Divorce/Not divorce, adolescent kids, nosy grandmother, sociopath/bisexual/cute/brilliant investigator. Also there are 7 series with lots of episodes, so not like Luther (I have not forgotten that last series with TWO!).

It's a very good show, well-written and has a great cast - rather easy to stick with it for 6 series.
Finished Bosch series 1 & 2. Series one is really good. Series 2 is excellent.
Poldark on BBC 1 has returned. Finding it a bit dull, to be honest..
