"The Crown" started its rumoured 60 episodes last week on Netflix. Stunning photography in 4K. Not sure about Dr Who play the Duke of Edinburgh.
The Times raved about it and gave it 5 stars. I'm two episodes in and wondering how 58 more can be sustained. As one very aware of historical errors, I was annoyed to see King Edward watch breakfast TV on the election of Churchill as Prime Minister in 1951...

Black Mirror. | | | | | A UK production on Netflix. Each episode is a completely different story. A bit like a 2016 version of The Outer Limits. Some good, some silly...

Of course, arguably the best series documenting our planet: Planet Earth 2 started last Sunday.
If you have been living under a rock the last 10 years and haven't watched the Planet Earth first series--do so right away (there's a few good chapters on rocks as well :P ).
The footage, narration, music, story, education, entertainment, and overall message is really 2nd to none.

I cant handle the animals getting it in the neck in these nature documentaries. I know that's life, but there it is.

Of course with whatever predator-prey domination interactions that comes with it

Closer to the Enemy (the new Stephen Poliakoff) drama was on BBC 1 last night and it's intriguing. Not sure it's going to end up anywhere near where it started, however, and Jim Sturgess seems to be channelling a young Jonathan Pryce, voice wise, but I was transfixed.

Despite grumpily picking up little historical slips.

Black Mirror. | | | | | I've watched only the first episode so far (with the woman who wanted to go to a wedding and all her social media reputation disappearing till she made it there) and did find it very plausible.
It's the next step in our "democracies"...lol
So yeah, it's a promising series.

And because Jude Law was such a pretty boy for so long, you forget that he is a bloody good actor. He pitches his character perfectly.. Diane Keaton of course is great, isn't she always? And many of the cardinals are just brilliantly funny.. yep, definitely worth watching, if you haven't seen it yet. | | | | | Pretty good The Young Pope... saw all 8 episodes available..

The 7th episode, Series 1 of West world, and it just got very interesting. I must say, I do find each episode quite long.

I can see why people could get hooked, but I don't think that we can wade through 5 more to get to something interesting.
I wish they wouldn't use the F word so often, not shocking, just boring.

Shows a lack of imagination in the script dialogue department.
Great series otherwise. Although quite how Dexter can spend much of his life out stalking away from his apartment and later his house when he gets married is unrealistic to say the least. This guy never sleeps nor, despite the titles does he shave. His ginger stubble has remained doggedly the same length through 5 seasons...

Netflix again: Designated Survivor.
Very American. But as it's about the US presidency and destruction of the Capitol Building by terrorists, it would have to be.
First time 'weekly' series on Netflix - one episode a week is being released...

The Crown: Wow, this one has really pleasantly surprised me, gripping stuff. Up to episode 8 now and I think it is awesome. | Quote: | | | | | Watched the first last night - OKish. It's an amazing series.

Netflix: The Expanse

The mystery of who or what is behind the alien weapon come into its own.. you still don't know by the end of the series; however, the writers build up the suspense rather steadily I thought.
I'm hooked.

I just started watching Glitch on Netflix - so far it's pretty good.
I have to say, I personally think Australian shows/movies are great. Wentworth (a more serious/less humourful OITNB) is another great Aussi show.
