Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

I enjoyed watching "Mad Men" a lot. There have been 7 seasons released, so plenty to watch. From newer stuff I would suggest "Stranger Things" or "Black Mirror (every episode tells the separate story)"

I watched series 1 and then gave up early into series 2.

Does it pick up/ get better? Didn't realize there were 5 series made.

Thanks, BokerTov. I had little hope they will continue.

I love it, and I got my brother, my best friend, my husband, and my mom hooked on it as well (in this order)!

I like the story and the fact that it takes place in Washington and I recognize the places. One funny thing is, sometimes they speak Russian, and my husband (who is fluent in Russian) laughs at the jokes before I do, since I have to wait for the subtitles!

This season will go until end of May 2017. They have announced that the final season will be Season 6, in 2018. Sigh!

In my case it was my husband who got me hooked, and as it happens, I'm now a bigger fan than him.

Well, Game of Thrones it seems.

In other news - having cancelled Mythbusters less than a year ago, they're trying to bring it back with new presenters.

I got bored with The Fall after a bit. Very good to begin with, but then.. once they padded it out, I lost interest...
I know, Jamie Dorman doesn't nail it. Still Gillian's acting is superb.

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

Just thought I would pass this on to anyone interested. Maybe they're over-it, but have to say that the previous Netflix series put me into such giggles that the neighbours commented, as was binging watching last series on the balcony:

Coming Friday, March 24th... Grace and Frankie Season 3

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

As a change of tone from most of the recommendations here (good though many are), can I point people at the US PBS channel that Cablecom-Horizon subscribers should have. Their documentary series are superb, focusing mainly on US history. I just finished watching the brilliant 6 parter about the American Civil War, and before that a series on notorious historical figures from the days of the Wild West. They tend to get repeated often, and I strongly recommend to anyone else interested in very high quality historical documentaries
.

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

Sky viewers may be able to get it too, depending on which Sky package they have. Have only watched their 3-parter on the Dust Bowl a while back, but agree it was very well done.

not sure if it has been mentioned. Watched Ep1 of "Designated Survivor"

apparently in the US before a state of the union address one member is deemed the designated survivor in case there is a tragedy and everyone dies. Of course this is what happens and the designated survivor takes office - played by Kiefer Sutherland.

he doesn't play Jack Bauer but Ep1 was intriguing.

Killjoys. It's a bit Firefly, a bit Farscape, a bit... different. Space bounty hunters, basically, who renounce everything but their ability to be space bounty hunters.
