I did not like the second book, but the third was good. Hope there will be a fourth.

Thought the series was quite well done so far.
Ha! I liked the first two and not the third

Mind you, I need to finish reading the third book, gave up on it after 4 chapters..

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

Okay, who else missed the second episode of "Strike" because the Beeb stuck it on on Bank Holiday Monday and didn't tell anyone. Hubby kept saying all last week that the episode on Sunday was the finale cause that's what they were advertising and me saying no, it's only part two of a three-part story.

For anyone who watches the UK series Birds of a Feather. There will be a Christmas special on ITV on Christmas Eve this year.

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

Having seen the favourites on Netflix, came across two this year
that were pretty good series:
Line of Duty
The Americans

Where is House of Cards season 5.... been out on Netflix UK
for a few months now!☹️
Anyone have any ideas how to get access to Westworld legit?

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

All UK progs, some are part way through, but goodies, if you have the sort of TV package that lets you catch up with them.

Quacks Tues BBC2 10pm
New comedy series 'Back' Weds Channel 4 11pm, I think
Safe House Thurs 10pm ITV
The new series of Cold feet starts on Friday on ITV
Ill behaviour Sunday BBC2 11pm, part way through but very funny, in a weird sort of way

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

What I've seen recently and I think was really good:

- Westworld: very clever Science Fiction. Anthony Hopkins, as usual is really impressive.

- Ozark: it sounded boring after reading the description but it's quite a nice thriller with a very diverse set of characters. Develops slowly but surely.

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

Cormoran Strike is excellent, loving it. See J.K Rowling is involved in the production, so no wonder it's good.

Anyone tried the new series on BBC 1 Rellik. I watched about 10 minutes and gave up.

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

No, didn't bother with it. The premise on my TV geek website didn't sound that great.

Strike is pretty meh to me, but I missed the middle part of the 3-parter. Didn't bother with last Sunday's and we're travelling tomorrow so won't see the 2nd part of that either.

Rather annoyed that I'm also going to miss the last part of False Flag. Going to record it so will see it when we're back, but having sat through most of the 8 episodes I want to know exactly what they've all been up to.

If you haven't seen it yet, *Black Lake* Swedish thriller on BBC4 is really good.

We are enjoying Rellik, it is sometimes a little hard to follow though with the continual rewinding.

Meh, can do the same on True Entertainment on Sky in the mornings. Along with an episode of The Waltons.

Watched the final episode of False Flag the other day and a bit meh on that too. Most weird was Asia saying she was going to Moscow when the Israelis had just run a black ops mission to make sure none of them did. I was like "what? what? that doesn't make sense." No way would she be let out of Israel to go to Moscow.

This one should be close to all our expat hearts. From my Geek website:

Living the Dream, Season 1 - Sky1

02 November 2017 at 9:00 pm

Ex-pat comedy drama about a family who move from England to the sunshine state of Florida, starring Philip Glenister and Lesley Sharp.

But presumably the rest of the plot is totally realistic and believable?

I don't watch those sorts of programs (or movies) at all these days, but it does bother me to think that many viewers might actually take then at face value. Small plot holes like the one mentioned are surely as nothing compared to the whole suspension of disbelief needed to watch them in the first place?

Re: good TV series recomendations..... ?

Well, I found it fairly believeable so that may explain it. But yeah, sometimes you have to suspend your belief - look at the 24 series for example. How could anyone do that amount of stuff in 24 hours!

But sometimes to suspend our belief the story has to be believeable. GoT for example. We all know it's fantasy so are prepared to suspend our belief because of that, but if it were badly written it would have been panned long before now.

And, like everything else in life, what appeals to one person doesn't appeal to another. We're getting deluged with comic book stuff at the moment - two more on the horizon to add to the current batch - but they don't appeal to me at all. Same with the Shannara series - didn't rate the books so not interested in the series. Same with GoT - I read the first 3-books long before the series was even going to be made, but didn't like them much so didn't continue reading them and not interested in the series. Horses for courses - and with those I'm way off track.
