Options for US HD TV service?

My landlord forbids the use/installation of satellite dishes so unfortunately, SKY+ isn't an option.

I would appreciate hearing from those who have used alternatives to get US TV in Lausanne? Is Swisscom a good option? What others are out there?

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Options for US HD TV service?

If you do a search you will find many discussions around this.

Satelitte and Cable is not an option, nor is Swisscom TV unless you are satisfied with the odd channel (CNN, ESPN America) etc.

If you want realtime tv you need to signup with a Slingbox service. I had that and the quality was excellent. It was just the fact that it was expensive and due to the timezone difference I hardly was able to watch the shows I wanted. I did recorded some but than didn't had the time to view. Also zapping was quiet slow and cumbersome.

If you are more cherrypicking specific series or sports there are more options.

Apple TV
Hulu
Netflix
etc.

that can all be had in Switzerland with good quality. Some require some IP services to trick that you are in the US but that is not too cumbersome.

Good luck

Re: Options for US HD TV service?

I saw this link on another thread. Looks promising, but I am not a user. Kind of pricey, but LOTS of channels.

Re: Options for US HD TV service?

I have been using UnoTelly.com service in order to access Hulu and Netflix from Switzerland. It is a great service and I can watch a lot of US tv shows for free on the network websites and also use my Netflix subscription.
