| | Recommendation about swiss VoIP line
Hi everybody!!
I'm new in the forum as well as in Switzerland. I've just moved a few weeks ago. Now I'm settled in Vaud, Lausanne area, and I would like any advice or recommendation about a good VoIP option here in Switzerland.
Thanks so much,
Marie |

I have Free Global Phone from CableCom. It is part of their 99 CHF a month package. You get TV, High Speed Internet and VoIP phone. The global phone is awesome because you can call all of Europe and the US for just 10 rappen connection charge. No cost per minute. I make about 5 calls per week to the states and each one can be lengthy, but I only pay 50 rappen for the 5 calls. I am sure you can get the Global Phone without the big combo package, but it was a good deal for all three.

You could also try www.internet calls.com . They have a 'freedays' scheme where you can call most landline phones across europe for free.

Good night to everybody,
First of all thanks all of you for your answers
@jeraille: thank for your advice but I'm just looking for a VoIP service. I don't need a combo pack (even more, I don't have TV... )
About the other 3 options, finally I've chosen Switzernet. They give me a swiss number, they have the cheapest swiss rates and until the end of the month the give me a Siemens Gigaset A160 SIP phone with the adapter to make the calls.
Once I try the service I'll tell you how it works.
Thanks so much,

Good morning everybody!!
After one month using the Switzernet's VoIP services I can tell you that I'm very happy with them.
First of all, they sent me the telephone and the adapter configured, so it was not necessary to touch anything, I just plugged it and connected it to the router and voila!! It worked
So far, I haven't had any problems: I made calls from minutes to hours (not really, but you know, when talk with the family it seems like this... :P) without problems and the sound quality was good, which means that each time I've called friends and home it wasn't necessary to say "It's me, Marie!!".
To sum up, after one month with Switzernet I give them 10/10!!!
Lot of kisses,
Marie |

Good afternoon Marie,
I'm Mike and I'm a newbie in this forum. I'm looking for opinions about VoIP providers in Switzernland, so... do you recommend Switzernet?
I want to open an account but there are several companies and before make a mistake, I want to be sure of what I do.
Of course I'm open to everybody's opinion :P
Thanks for your answers,
Mike

Switzernet's tariff looks good, but there is a 9chf monthly subscription charge on top of calls. voipcheap.co.uk, a Swiss outfit, is now also available for Swiss residents, no monthly charges. Swiss mobiles are 10 ukpence per minute all Pay-as-you-go. Once you have topped up your account and have credit, most European destinations are free too, including CH land lines, for 90 days since the last topup (min topup 10 pounds + Swiss VAT).
Some special numbers, like (Swiss) 0800 and 0848 prefix numbers don't work.
I use our old WWZ IP phone for incoming calls and outgoing 0848, 0800 and emergency calls. I use a Gigaset 610ip phone from Digitec to transparently do the mappings.

Good morning Mike,
I'm using Switzernet and I'm happy with them, I never had any problems by the time. It's true that you should pay each month 9 chf but if this is a problem to you, they also offer prepaid accounts.
In my opinion, one important issue that you should think about : how do you want to call? I mean, do you want to call from your laptop/PC? In my case the answer is no, and one of the main reasons I've chosen Switzernet it's because the offer me a new phone device. Of course, this is up to you.
Each month, they have different offers: http://switzernet.com/public/090505-...P_promo_EN.htm
I hope my opinion can be helpful.
Have a nice day,
Marie
PS: if at the end you go for Switzernet I can refer you, this way I can get 21chf :P

The Switzernet prepaid accounts do actually have a monthly fee, and don't give free calls to any international land lines, so they can work out really expensive. Their 9chf monthly charge will buy you an hour of calls to Swiss mobiles on Voipcheap. Quite a head start! Plus you can spread that hour over 3 months, still getting free international calls all the while and no contract.
The Gigaset 610ip I have is a newer version of the phone Switzernet are promoting (see Marie_89's post). It is a little more expensive around 95chf. I have been using voipcheap since 2005. Call quality has been excellent. I also have a SIP client on my iphone, and often dial out on that if I am within range of any good wlan connection, say at friends etc.
The Gigaset 610ip lets you plug in a land line as well as the net cable, and the stylish handset will answer calls from either the land line or any of your internet phones. Outgoing calls can be programmed to use any internet account or land line based on dialed number. It also displays the callers name for incoming calls if they are listed in the Swiss telephone book! | Quote: | | | | | Good morning Mike,
