Alternative VDSL modem for Swisscom

Hello,

Does anyone know of an alternative Wireless N modem you can use instead of the Wireless G that swisscom provide ? Because it is VDSL I am not sure if an off the shelf one from Manor will work.

I would be very keen to hear from anyone who *definitely* has an alternative modem working. I can't be arsed to daisy chain another wireless off the back of the existing G modem/router either.

thanks for any advice received.

You can put the modem generally into 'bridge' mode and then put whatever nice box behind that that you like.

Fritz!Box VDSL versions work like a charm btw and Swisscom does not restrict what connects to their network.

Fritzbox looks ideal. As it is a VDSL device itself I take it I could therefore fully replace the swisscom router with this ? I am keep to fully get rid of it and not have another device bridged / daisy chained off the back.

I have the Fritz box installed.

Works great. Completely replaces the Swisscom box.

Also use it for VOIP with my Gigaset phones connected to it plus my hardwired phones. Have one VOIP number setup for fax on the box too.

It also supports IPV6

Edit: it also support ADSL or VDSL also works with analogue or ISDN

I recently upgraded from the Motorola/Netopia wireless G modem to the Centro Grande, which is wireless N (both modems from Swisscom). It was 150chf with a 1-year contract extension.

I've had a few drop-outs with the Centro Grande, about once every 2 weeks - hopefully they go away soon. The Motorola one was also unstable at first but became rock-solid after a few firmware updates.

Hi,

I have a very similar setup to "szhjcn". The only thing the Fritz doesn't do is make toast
