Galaxy note vs ICS

Hi all,

Can anyone confirm if the Galaxy Note performance improves with ICS? I've tried a few shop demos and the UI seems a bit stuttery on 2.3. I hear somewhere that 2.3 is single core, so the note's second core is idle. I could be wrong here.

I should be able to afford one by the time Samsung gets the ICS updateo out.

Re: Galaxy note vs ICS

Sorry to stray off topic, but I'm an avid reader of all the tech blogs (e.g. Engadget, Gizmodo etc..) and I am sick to the back teeth of ICS rollout news items. Apple releases an OS upgrade and its all over the blogosphere for a day or two, Google launches Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade last October and still the bloody thing hasn't been released to all handsets, which based on current estimates could be in excess of 1000 different models.

That is why Android = FAIL

Re: Galaxy note vs ICS

I feel your pain Castro - I'm still an iphone user right now, and Android isn't feeling as nice, and way too technical for the average user. And now there's the malware spreading everywhere...freedom and openess is a double-edged sword. And of course, no fixes coming soon...

However, there's no getting away from the fact that Swiss Map will be bloody great on a 5.3" screen, compared to the relatively pokey iphone screen, while still fitting in the back pocket of a cycle jersey.

Re: Galaxy note vs ICS

i have the galaxy note and haven't upgraded yet. in fact, it had some update from the day i bought it which i have been declining to install.

it works fine as it is right now and i would be tempted to upgrade to ICS maybe to try out the chrome browser, but it works great for my use so why mess with a working system?

It's probably that update which slowed down my demo test units...

Refreshing to hear that it runs ok on 2.3. The demo units I tried were a bit "glitchy" - one's browser even crashed. Though I have to admit - they've probably *never* been restarted, and have all the apps running. I should try and test a unit after a battery-out restart.

Does anyone know when the ICS4 update will begin on the galaxy note in Switzerland?

I've herd its rolling out in the US, Canada and other places... just waiting on mine

Re: Galaxy note vs ICS

Well... if it helps, I updated my Nexus S long time ago to ICS, and battery life time is way much shorter ...

Re: Galaxy note vs ICS

My note works fine with custom UI, forgot which one. Feels very smooth, as it should with that hardware. I love adding notes to PDF files and adding bookmarks, the most efficient way to read long articles I feel.
