Re: Cablecom raises speed and price

Yes you are probably correct. But changing to Cablecom would be a step backwards. I had Cablecom for years also with Cablecom TV. Internet was OK but the HD Recorder was really bad. Simply very bad hardware-cheap and nasty!
Maybe when this comes I will change to Cablecom http://www.20min.ch/digital/hardware...orgen-22704471

That's why using HD TV on Swisscom slows down your internet speed is it??

Re: Cablecom raises speed and price

I took a UPC cablecomm connection...but cudn't set it up...N hence called the support...but they charged CHF 45 for it. Is this a normal charge for service?

Re: Cablecom raises speed and price

I may have dug my own grave but after 3 years of CC I have had enough.

I decided to let myself get sucked in by Sunrise with their offer of a free iPad.... I get more services in the first year, it's a bit more expensive than CC, not much of a difference in Internet etc but really hope the recorder box is better. I had the original which didn't record. Swapped it (still waiting on my 50,- for returning that, which was said verbally and realise that isn't worth sh1t in Switzerland) and the new one wasted so much electricity. It just gets hot! Bad, cheap, cheap.... They forgot verbal agreement and honour here a long time ago I realise.

Anyway, they are taking over my landline from cc and I do hope I haven't made a big mistake

Anyway, the most important point is: since 2 days now the recorder on the cc box is not working. the Guide takes an absolute age to come up and all the pre-recordings have not worked. Do you think this is on purpose? Have they send a banshee signal to my box, just to make sure I suffer in the last month?

I hate Cablecom. Once again an interesting, good quality TV sender has been removed (BR) and replaced with trash.
FYI: Cablecom was forced to put joiz (aka trash) on their analog network by OFCOM. Cablecom actually went to court against the OFCOM decision but unfortunately lost.

Re: Cablecom raises speed and price

Just came back from Sweden and the internet there is jaw dropping and cheap! Plus being able to take it anywhere(USB) and not pay a cent more just puts CC and Swisscom to shame, no wonder it's the #2 country with the best internet worldwide.

Totally of topic I know just really disappointing with my mediocre CC internet at the moment.

What does "jaw dropping and cheap!" mean in real figures??

Not that I'm an expert in Swedish prices but the one I used was around 40.- monthly for a 80 Mbps connection, and they provide you with a free router and USB.
What I liked was it being mobile and just paying one price for home/work/leisure internet.
As for the speed, my browsing was slightly faster and steadier than CH, but the big difference was the download speed, which was twice as fast.
Not that many figures, though all I can provide at the moment.

A year ago I read about South Korea being #1 and Sweden #2 in overall internet quality. Things might have changed since then, dunno. What I do know is you pay little for what you get compared to CH. One week of Swedish internet was better than 6 yrs of swiss & cablecom, enough for the act of jaw dropping, though those were mainly spend on the blondes

Re: Cablecom raises speed and price

Them problem, for me, with Cablecom, is that they don't offer BBC1 HD - only BBC HD!
Has anyone heard if they ever plan to address this (no, last time I asked)...

Re: Cablecom raises speed and price

I actually think Cablecom's "triple play" is one of the BEST bargains in CH... especially in that over the last 6-7yrs the price has consistently gone down while the services provided/speed has gone up a LOT.

Re: Cablecom raises speed and price

You can also have your Cablecom plug for radio and TV cut off. Its not really cut off its just sealed so you cannot use it. It saves you 25 Franks a month. Usually these costs are included in your monthly rent ( if you rent a place) so one has to contact the landlord.

Then you will have radio over Sunrise Settop box.
