Can I request then "port" a Sion, CH number I don't have?

I am vain enough to want a so called "vanity number". For example a number that spells out my name and/or my company name... The number of interest is something like:

+41 27 XXX XXXX

which is the Vorwahl in region of Sion/Brig. Some DID porviders offer 27 Vorwahl but not the correct sequence of the remaining 7 numbers. I checked for the number in directories.ch and no results were returned. One could assume that the number is not / has not been assigned if not in the directories database. So - I am living in Basel - but want a specific Sion/Brig number and that is where the problem begins...

- Do you know of a way I can secure the specific Sion number. (I assume that Swisscom "owns" this number)

- Do you know if a customer can request a specific number at all from Swisscom?

Once I have the number, I would port it to a Voip provider and use it with a Voip account. This is (seemingly) straightforward.

Thanks for any tips...

Vanity numbers are available only for businesses and have a business prefix: 0800, 084x, 0878 or 090x (the different prefixes indicate how much the caller will be charged).

You can either open a business number account at Swisscom and let them do the registration at the federal office of communications.

Or go directly to the BAKOM and take your number whereever you want (I think).

You can determine whether your desired number is taken or free at the BAKOM's website for vanity numbers, which also has a good FAQ section.

Re: Can I request then "port" a Sion, CH number I don't have?

Great resource! Thanks for the link!

However, my vanity request is so vain that I don't want it to be limited to the 08xx or 09xx numbers ....

To make the spelling sequence work, I need the Sion/Brig preface 027 to give:

+41 27 426 9233

One trick seems to "find" that specific number (e.g. getting Swisscom (or OFCOM?)) to make the effort to look for the number in their database) and another trick is to "obtain" a Sion/Brig number although I am a resident of Basel. Finally, I would want to quickly port it away from Swisscom to use as a "call in" number for my Voip account, but that is "doable".

Some DID or Voip providers already offer a 027 prefix, but are within a designated block of numbers (e.g. swissmegaphone.ch offers 027 510 55 xx and didww.com offers the same block of numbers) and therefore don't allow the flexibility of complete choice over the number sequence...
