Yeah, for the 95 and 130 Fr. options from Sunrise - which are both more expensive than what Swisscom has to offer. For the 55Fr / month thing it’s unlimited in Switzerland and 4gb abroad.

Yes, do you speak French? Use google translate to figure out what 4 Go stands for.

If they really make this unlimited, that’s a truly great deal, I agree. Even with 4gb it’s not bad - wouldn’t be enough for me (I live next to the border to Germany and my phone is in German networks most of the time if I want any kind of internet connection at all when I’m outside WiFi range)

you mean "really" as if the screenshot from the actual subscription I posted above is not convincing, or you refer to a potential throttling or similar tricks they might apply?

No, I believe you - I just don’t always believe what providers say - always cautious until I see it in contract-form :-)

Both Sunrise and Swisscom do throttle btw - I think it’s after 40gb per month in each case. I think Salt doesn’t but could be wrong

Re: Which mobile phone provider? Swisscom, Sunrise, Orange....

TIL:

Quote:
Excessive use of mobile network services can cause capacity problems and impair network performance, which has a directeffect on other mobile network customers' user experience. In order to prevent this situation, Sunrise will temporarily deprioritize the 4G and 4G+ data traffic of customers who reach a certain limit value:

First deprioritization

: A first deprioritization is carried out for customers whose monthly data usage is higher than 97% of all other customers, based on an average determined on a quarterly basis (status Sept. 2017: approx. 40 GB per month).

Second deprioritization

: An additional deprioritization is carried out within the same month for customers whose monthly data usage is higher than 99.98% of all other customers,
based on an average determined on a quarterly basis (status Sept. 2017: approx. 500 GB per month
I will investigate the unlimited roaming claim in greater details and report here.

UPDATE: did not take too long and confirmed over the phone with the rep:

Quote:
- Unlimited in Switzerland with High Speed 4G+
- Unlimited in Region 1 countries, of which with 40 GB High Speed

Re: Which mobile phone provider? Swisscom, Sunrise, Orange....

Swisscom have new abos from 25.02 and I changed mine already. I have a much better deal than before and save almost 100 chf per month.

Worth checking out.

Re: Which mobile phone provider? Swisscom, Sunrise, Orange....

Need the hive mind to suggest solutions for this:

We were SALT customer for 8 years (orange before) and in July when contract came up for renewal, we got the SALT - pay 89CHF for EUROPE or GTFO. "But, but, your website says CHF 40 promo". The answer was, this is reserved for new customers only. I told them I'll change operator if I must, which was received with a smile.

So, mid-July I moved to UPC. Their UNLIMITED EUROPE was supposed to serve same purpose - unlimited calls to CH, EU, US + unlimited minutes in roaming + roaming data of 1GB or more.

Lo-and-behold, the moment we go on holidays in neighboring France, all fine-print surfaces, making the deal not so evidently a direct replacement. Don't get me wrong, I am the only one to blaim for this - rushing through the sales people in a call centrer "sure, sure, sure, all unlimited in Europe" without clarifying the fine print before I rage-quit SALT.

Now, I need to find a normally priced (below chf90) monthly subscription that serves the following:
- unlimited calls to and from CH, EU, US (i.e. calling all these destinations while in CH, but also when roaming in EU/US)
- unlimited data in CH
- at least 1GB data in roaming (the more the better).

Thank you!

Swisscom InOne Mobile Go.
If I read the conditions carefully, this is CHF 80 base price + CHF 20 for unlimited intl calls (link)
total CHF 100?

why not to opt for a temporary solution until December until the QoQa offer from Sunrise is up for grabs again

It sounds like this is THE jackpot of the year but I couldn't find a reference to it; do you remember what it was in previous years?

I've got it and am very happy. It gets even more interesting if you have multiple sunrise accounts because then you get combi discounts.

because it really IS one! like k_and_e provided, both years '17 and '18 the offer aired on 10.12. You may want to install qoqa app and keep an eye on it. Most of the offers aren't very appealing, but with this years's unlimited roaming enhacement the mobile abo has just become unbeatable.
