Can I use a Swiss receiver with my US game systems/TV?

We brought our TV and gaming systems from the US (I know, I know...) with the thought of setting up a closed system for gaming and streaming TV.

Unfortunately in the moving madness, we decided to leave the receiver behind! Now we have a pile of US electronics and no receiver to hook them all up.

So, my question: does anyone know if I can buy a receiver here that I can plug all my US goodies into (Wii, Xbox360, Samsung LED TV and a DVD player)? Are there any issues with different voltage, plugs, connectors, etc. etc.?

Any help much appreciated!

I'm afraid you need to work it out yourself by checking what voltages and standards each of your devices support, but technically it should be possible.

If you buy the receiver locally, it will be all set for Swiss power and power plugs.

The video and audio cables are the same here as in the US: these days everything is HDMI

Of course, you need to look at what connectors you have on your devices (Cinch, S-Video, Composite, HDMI, etc) and make sure the receiver you buy has enough inputs of enough flavours to make you happy.

Of course, all your devices need to be able to run on Euro 220V, instead of USA 110V. Read the label on each device to see what it is happy with.
And then you need a power plug adapter to fit the Swiss or Euro power points. See Interdiscount for such adapters.
