48h Swisscom outage?

Our Swisscom TV and Internet went down at 11:30 last night and was still down this morning. All I could get from Customer Support was an automated message saying it would be resolved at 9pm Wednesday!
Anyone else experiencing Swisscom technical issues in the Fribourg area?

Maybe they meant 9 a.m. today instead of 9 p.m. tomorrow? One can hope!

Re: 48h Swisscom outage?

Complain.

I got 2 months free and also a big data package for my iPad as compensation for a 3 day outage recently.

Swisscom are a very reasonable company to work with.

Cheers Jekyll

Re: 48h Swisscom outage?

Just phoned them again and the guy says he could connect to our router. Can't check it myself as I'm not at home, but will get wifey to check.

Don't keep all your eggs in one basket - all these 3x inclusive offers are great ...... until the handle breaks - then you're scrambled.

For what it's worth:

Sunrise phone/router; and Cablecom TV, all working fine.

Landline was still working though, funnily enough.

Already hands my fingers burnt by both Sunrise and Cablecom, not going back there again.

You know how it works, though ...... they're all a bunch of winkers, and everyone has tales of woe about all of them

I just think it's better not to have TV and internet provided by the same ball-squeezer.

Even with their joint incompetences, the chances of losing two at the same time should be reduced.

If you separate out the providers it is easy for them to blame eachother!

Re: 48h Swisscom outage?

Nope, haven't experienced any problems with phone or internet. Sounds as if it might be a connection problem with your router. Are there any other networks nearby that it picks up? When Swisscom upgraded around here and we got a new router we had problems at first, but the man at Swisscom talked my hubbie through setting it up to get our signal only.

Re: 48h Swisscom outage?

I phoned them again this morning and the guy was a able to connect to our router. I checked at home and it was working again.
It wasn't the fact it had gone down, that can happen to any network due to faults, upgrades, maintenance etc, but more that they orignally set an estimated resolution date almost 48h after it went down, with no warning. Hopefully that was just a worst-case scenario.

Re: 48h Swisscom outage?

Oh, it isn't the worst case scenario. I have been having issues with them on a whole different order of magnitude for years. If they can connect to your router doesn't necessarily mean that you can connect to the internet. Your best bet is to look on your router for the DSL and Internet LEDs, to see if they're green. Even then, you can't be sure.

If you have trouble, use this phone number in the future: 0800881112

Re: 48h Swisscom outage?

Well that explains why I came back from work and can't see anything on the TV. I'm staying at a hotel in Fribourg, and last night it was working fine. Does that mean people will get a discount on their bilag????

I also do agree with not putting all your eggs in one basket. It's a cheaper deal at first, but once they got you, it is difficult to separate things and then they slowly increase rates on you.
