I have been using My Private Network for about six years now, ever since I left the UK, and pay £5 per month for a brilliant service. www.my-private-network.co.uk/ |

Depending on what you want from your VPN, I can recommend a free alternative: mediahint.com. It's just a browser extension for Chrome and Firefox, and it serves to disguise your IP when it encounters a known media site, such as Netflix or BBC. So it automatically shows you BBC with a British IP and Netflix with a US IP, for instance. Well, those are all I've had experience with.
But that's pretty much all it does; you can't choose your server (or even country), nor does it hide you from prying eyes the way a VPN does. It also doesn't work on any chosen site; it doesn't recognise the Finnish Broadcasting Company, for instance. But it's free and it works automatically (when it does), which is nice.
When I lived in China I used ExpressVPN, and I was very happy with them. Their customer service was friendly and very quick whenever I needed assistance, and they managed to keep one step ahead of the Great Chinese Firewall at all times... But that was China, I don't know how well it works here in Europe.

Hma vpn for 3 months on phones and tablet with no problem.
I now got a Samsung smart TV & want to watch Us Netflix but this seems toI require a special router with configuration.
I'm willing to take this on but I'd love to hear alternative to watching us Netflix on Samsung smart TV.

Adding yet another option to the mix: TunnelBear.
I've been using it since we moved in the summer, mostly for UK and US, but it also offers Oz, Germany and Japan.
They support Android, iOS, PC and Mac and have a free option if you want to take it out for a spin.

its called a DD WRT router & yes to support configuration for VPN.
HMA.com has a list of these routers on their website.

HMA.com has a list of these routers on their website. | | | | | That's my assumption as well and why I was asking. DD WRT is an open source firmware upgrade that works with many routers (compatibility list here). They have a special VPN build with the features that HMA uses. Basically, you configure the router to build a "site-to-site" VPN so everything that goes through the router is encrypted. The only downside is the configuration is fairly static, and if you have a US IP address to watch Netflix that means all traffic in that router is going through the US, which can cause latency. I haven't tried it with Netflix, because my downstream throughput is terrible and Netflix would choke it, but it works with Hulu and other IP-restricted media sites.
I've flashed 2 routers with DD WRT (both Linksys), and it's a piece of cake, especially with the release they have now. One router is the VPN router, and the other I setup as a wireless bridge between my media server and TV.

Right? | | | | | From the access (wifi) side they're broadcasting the same way. It's the uplink that's encrypted. So make sure to keep your VPN router secure from the access side.
Not familiar with a UPC box. Is that just another wifi router? If you have 2 independent wifi routers I don't see why you couldn't do this. It all depends on how they're connected.

Overplay DNS - hardly available in Interdiscount?
It seems to be the only place in Luzern & their range is quite limited.

I'm using Unblock US (unblock-us.com) since some years now to watch Netflix. It's not a real VPN, but if you are just looking for something to be able to access (certain!) streaming sites etc then I would have a look. It's not tunneling your traffic, you have to change you DNS and it then redirects some lookups from the streaming services (as far as I understood it).
So for example with Netflix during the first seconds of the stream when the Geo check is performed the quality is bad (as I experienced it using VPNs), but then it switches back to your connection and its HD |

I'm also very happy to recommend purevpn as a fast and reliable provider and easy to install - I have used them from the Middle East and now on Switzerland and absolutely no problems whatsoever

I am also using unlocator.com for Netflix streams in my PS3. Setting it up is very simple and they provide you a guide for it in their website. And for the time being it is a FREE service. The quality of the streams are quite well in PS3. No delays whatsoever.

We have been using a VPN for the last year - connection can sometimes be a bit flaky, but generally it's very good for watching various UK TV services on the iPad.
I have noticed today that the BT Sport app now also uses location services, so therefore blocks me as I am not in the UK. Are there any ways or ideas for working around this?
