I-pod not working after getting wet in the rain

Hi There

My daughter`s I-pod got wet in the rain and since then stopped working. It does not even start. I was wondering if some of you know a place where in we can bring it to get it fixed or is it better to buy a new or a second hand one.

It has crossed the guarantee period.

I have tried a house tip which I read somewhere by keeping the i-pod in the box of Rice (Yes, Rice which we eat) so that it takes the moisture away, but no luck. Desperate times desperate measures kind of a situation!

Anyways any tips are most welcome, Thanks.

Have a good day.

A friend of mine put her's in a warm dry place for a couple of days and it worked again, good as new.

Try that before you go and try to get it repaired or replaced.

Rice is the best way - although it works better with mobile phones than ipods as you can remove the back from a phone which allows you to take the power source away so minimising the chance of damage, plus getting the rice closer to the insides. Unfortunately, the ipod is sealed pretty well and the battery is in there already so it is probably fried, I'm afraid

Don't use Ambrosia Rice though, I tried that once. If anything, I think it made it worse.

Let it dry possibly under direct sunlight for a few days. I had an iphone, same thing happened wet in rain, took 3 days of drying and it started to work.

I used Basmati or Risotto Rice.

It's situation like this where we miss the old airing cupboard. Nice and cosy warm without being hot

I can't think of a modern equivalent, except maybe behind the telly.

Needs to be longer. In a box somewhere warm (if you have a radiator, on top of that, for three days minimum.) Don't plug it in until you've finished.

If that doesn't work, and you are almost ready to write it off.....try it in a sock, in a sock, in another sock, in a bigger sock, in a football sock, (you get the picture) in a very cool tumble dryer (if you have a cool setting, ideally not hotter than 30c) - might work

Did you already plug it in to the power since it got wet?
