Microspot Brand TV HDMI not working

Hey,

I have a Microspot Brand TV, with an HDMI port on the back. I cannot seem to get it to work with my laptop. When I connect the cable to my laptop and the TV, the laptop recognises that there is another monitor connected, but for some reason, I cannot get the display on the TV. I have checked the laptop setting thouroughly, so am pretty sure it has something to do with the TV settings.

Could someone please help me with this? I do not have the TV manual, so if you could even point me to where I could get it, that would be a great help!

Thanks!

Do you have "Source" function on the TV - if so, is there an option to select HDMI? (on old-style TV's it was just a case of toggling the TV/AV button on the remote).

Re: Microspot Brand TV HDMI not working

Thanks for the prompt reply!

I do have a source button on the TV (the one on the remote does not seem to work). I have toggled it many times over, with no luck. I also have my Wii connected to the TV, and the source toggle works fine with that, so I do not understand what I am doing with wrong with the HDMI!

Can you not set up dual display from the laptop?

Re: Microspot Brand TV HDMI not working

Again, appreciate the prompt response. I tried setting up a dual display as well. Nothing comes up on the (various) sources on the TV! I toggled through all of them half a dozen times!

When you press the source button, do you not get an on screen menu to select from?

I use Easy Display Manager (but I think this is a Samsung app. on my laptop), and it gives options including Dual and Clone Views and HDMI Only - all selected via the laptop ..... it pops up automatically when an HDMI cable is connected.

Re: Microspot Brand TV HDMI not working

Thanks for those tips, I do appreciate it!

Logically, the "source" toggle button should run throw up the HDMI input port as well, but when I toggle the source button, it doesnt turn up a separate "HDMI" option. It does have a "PC" option, but that only says "PC not connected." I dont think refers to the HDMI source.

As I mentioned, when I connect my Wii to one of the AV inputs, it comes up immediately when I toggle the source button. Why this doesnt happen with the HDMI cable escapes me. I cant help but feel like there is something I am missing vis--vis the Microspot TV settings.

I tried with both a Mac and a Windows laptop (Dell), but no luck.

Have you tried connecting another HDMI device to the port, such as a BluRay player?

Re: Microspot Brand TV HDMI not working

Is the Wii disconnected from the TV? .... if not disconnect it and retry the HDMI/laptop connection - some TV's have an auto-detect priority system.

I'm in ignorance of Wii's - does that have an HDMI input that the laptop could connect via?

Really silly point now .... my remote has a dedicated HDMI button, in addition to HDMI being on the source OSD menu.

Re: Microspot Brand TV HDMI not working

It does. On my Mac for instance, once the cable is connected to the TV, it goes black for a second and comes back on. I also then get the option of dual screen etc., which I believe would not be possible if it didnt recognise the TV as another displaying device..
