Watching TV in a different room to the box

Hi all,

I have tried to search the forum but only found old threads from 5 or 6 years ago and hope that technology has moved on in order to give me a cheap and easy fix to my problem

So my problem is that the white box on the wall that receives the tv input is only in a room that I am using as a bed room and this is the only box of its type in the house. Having done a rough measurement I have decided that it would take about 25m of cable to connect the box the new room because it needs to go across a hallway and needs to be kept away from an oil burner. The question is... Is there a better way to do this. Can someone recommend a solution? I have seen there are wireless transmitters and these type of things but is there one that someone can recommend from experience?

For your information I will be using cablecom for the TV connection and the TV is quite new I can't remember the name and model right now but if it is relevant I can update with this later on.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Mocha.

Re: Watching TV in a different room to the box

Thanks for your reply jrspet; however the options are very expensive considering I am only going to be here for 1 year and I am only doing an internship so not a big wage at all.

I have found this and I am wondering if these: http://www.amazon.com/X10-Powermid-P...d_rhf_pe_p_t_1 would work in my situation. Maybe someone is more technologically minded than me could tell me.

this is not what you are looking for...

forget the wireless solution, as that comes at a price which you are currently not willing to afford... be logical and procure a long coaxial TV cable off ricardo, ebay or any website of your choice... normally these cables will be available in 10m lengths, but you can always find extenders for them in the same websites...

I know that there can be a lot of interference on the wireless systems so why not try and check out CAT5e cabling instead... It's way cheaper than normal RF/COAX and much more flexible.

It also supports HD, but you still need to get a RJ45/HDMI adapter OR a other two way device if you want to be able to control your receiver remotely as well...

Re: Watching TV in a different room to the box

If a SCART-SCART (i.e. non-HD) connection is good enough for you then there was a wireless link recently for sale on EF

http://www.englishforum.ch/sale-want...s-tv-link.html

That is, assuming the Cablecom box has a SCART output (our Swisscom jobbie does).

Thanks for everybodies replies all have been helpful. I would prefer not to have to deal with the cables running all around the walls so I am willing to try this option from Mirfield.
