Re: Is Downloading movies for personal use legal here

Do mind that when using private sites this app if not yet blacklisted highly likely might get your account banned.

I'd rather if you already want to do such set up utorrent or Vuze properly.

Was talking to two of my neighbors before and both said that in Switzerland downloading movies from any site is legal for personal use?

Can this be right?

Is piracy allowed here?

Utter nonsense.

By definition, piracy in all its forms, software or music or otherwise, is illegal. Therefore anything that's legal is not piracy.

Irony alert - previous poster might just have been mocking, as if someone asked "Is crime legal?".

But here in switzerland , the " law " ist something else , so nobody cares(even Police and Justice), only serverupload will be punished.
So download what you want, if you don't share the files.

Piracy is an act of robbery or criminal violence by ship- or boat-borne attackers upon another ship or a coastal area, typically with the goal of stealing cargo and other valuable items or properties.

And yes, it is illegal in Switzerland.

Download is good, Upload is bad. But I always let upload a trickle to keep trackers from not banning me.

That's a very narrow definition... as you well know, piracy isn't just about doubloons and the skull and crossbones any more.

Well, no.

Software is forbidden even if you download only, just music and movies aren't.

Re: Is Downloading movies for personal use legal here

You can limit your torrent software to how much it uploads and set it to 1Kb/s and always manually stop seeding after your download is complete. That way you will tremendously limit the amount of data you upload.

Also, I've read somewhere that ETH have developed torrent software, which does not upload at all. I am not sure how this is possible, but it seems to be true, as several people told me about that.

Quite frankly I am happy with Netflix and rarely download anything. When I want to watch something not on Netflix (mostly Game of Thrones) I use this website SolarMovie, which is pretty cool and has huge library - it is only streaming.
