jamster scam

Hi,

I wanted to share this here, and see if this happened to anyone else here.

I have a mobile internet account by Sunrise. Over the past few weeks I have been receiving sms's from a company called Jamster asking me to sign up for their services. I obviously did not click on any links, and just ignored it. Imagine my suprise when the phone bill shows up,and i find out i was charged 40 chf (!) for not unsubscribing! My husband looked into this and supposedly there is something in the fine print on the sunrise contract, and our hands are tied. This was written about in the k-tipp, and there is nothing to do about besides suck it up and pay.

Anyone else??

Re: jamster scam

Yes, I was a victim of this very well-known scam and I quit Sunrise over their willingness to do business with such quasi-legal entities.

In my case I received messages in a language I don't speak, at 6am in the morning. So I just ignored them, and 30 chf later...

You need to disable premium sms in your Sunrise account online. You also need to unsubscribe from the 'service' on jamster.ch and send a stop message to the number in the text they sent.

Re: jamster scam

so it was not a misunderstanding on my part, and indeed sunrise was being sneaky. I would love nothing more than to cancel my account with sunrise but unfortunately the cancellation fees are keeping me from doing so.

let this be a warning for anyone planning on using sunrise!
