Samsung Smart TV

Just out of interest, can I purchase a Samsung Smart TV here and download the UK apps like BBC iplayer, assumming that I have a UK network here? Or are the apps country specific?

Re: Samsung Smart TV

I have done that but with a US network (IP). The Tv automatically updated to reflect the US apps once I connected to my US network.

So I would guess you can do that as well with a UK network(IP)

If you end up with the Swiss app store (I'm not sure if it's preset or it's based on your initial IP), then you can change to the UK store via the remote.

See this post.

Re: Samsung Smart TV

Also be aware that not all Sumsung Smart TV's have full browser capabilities, in which case you can only download and use the apps. that Samsung offer - unless this has changed since I bought mine.

Although, if your router is set up via a UK VPN, these apps. should be UK specific.

@anettemichael were you able to get Vudu to work? I have Netflix and Hulu+ but for some reason Vudu still recognizes I'm not in the US

Re: Samsung Smart TV

@anettemichael it's a video rental service like all the others, except they offer the movies in 3D as well. If you get a chance give it a shot, the app won't even open for me before giving me an error message.
