No, I didn't.

Capaldi must've been just bored to tears with it.

Moffat made a dogs dinner out of Sherlock too.

Haven't been reading the posts then as it's mentioned on the previous page.

Here's the Beeb link:

Announced last January.

Capaldi was also hinting at the beginning of last year that this might be his last season as the Dr.

If they cant get John Pertwee back, then my vote for the next Doctor is Boris Johnson...

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

Not over fussed by Capaldi leaving as I don't particularly like him as an actor, never have. But he was an improvement on Matt Smith.
Perhaps the powers-that-be could persuade Tom Hardy to take on the role for a few years? If he played the Doctor as anything like his current character in "Taboo" we'd be in for a treat!

Just finished watching the Dr Who spin-off "Class". Not bad, and they bought the Weeping Angels back at the end, yay!

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

Speculation's already started.

http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-38808070

Actually think Tim Roth might do well in the part. David Harwood if we "must" go non-white, though I can see no good reason to do so. Certainly wouldn't want the other black git as the Doctor. He's awful.

Totally agree, Richard Ayoade is definitely one of those 'quick, someone change channels' people.
Colin Morgan was brilliant in The Living and the Dead, but sadly if he became Dr Who it would mean no second series of that.

It just doesn't seem a role for a woman somehow, and if Catherine Tate got the part I'd stop watching, she irritates me no end.

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

I might, I say might, just about to be able to stand a black actor in the role, but not a woman. I didn't like it when the Master became the Mistress and if the Doctor becomes a woman I won't be watching.

Just because you can change things, doesn't mean you should.

I actually really enjoyed the fact that the Master became the Mistress...

And I am really enjoying Sherlock, Swisstree...

But then again, I also quite disliked Matt Smith's Doctor.

Yeah yeah, I'll take my coat. I know I'm the bearer of weird opinions...

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

I've said it before, I'll say it again..

Bring back David Tennant! Or Christopher Eccleston, thought he was great.

Actually, I enjoyed Sherlock too, and the Master Mistress thing. Matt Smith... wasn't keen at first, but he grew on me.

I liked Sherlock up until this series, the last episode was particularly: what the..??

Una Stubbs taking control with the gun was the highlight for me

I like the twists and contra-twists of it (we are talking about the one he ends up in the hospital, right? Or is there a new one? )

And I really enjoyed the first episode of this season, with a little wink at the original time frame

I liked Matt Smith as the doctor too. I quite liked Clara's impossible girl as well. I also loved Sherlock in all its bonkers-ness.

I'll get me coat...

Is no one watching No Offence? That's good telly... Paul Abbott should write for Doctor Who.

Not seen it yet. Must check it out.

@Angela - agree, Taboo with Tom Hardy is a treat.. but not sure he would be suited as the Doctor, nor would he take on that role. He'd make a great James Bond

An actor who, IMO, would be brilliant as the Doctor is Ben Whishaw.

Maybe, but he said this last time around.

The bookmakers' favourites include Ben Whishaw - Q in the James Bond films - who has the required combination of geekiness and eccentricity. However, the last time the vacancy arose, he said: "I don’t think you can be Q and Doctor Who. It would be a bit wrong."

Haven't seen the last few Bond films, don't really know him.

Q is not a great role for him though.

Brilliant in The Hour and the remake of Brideshead Revisited and more recently in London Spy.

He also played Keats in 'Bright Star', very pretty film.
Apparently he's gay.... that might be an interesting step for the Doctor?!
