Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

I found Saturday's episode to be quite good. It could have been one from the 70s golden age!

Well, after the 3 parter I'm still no wiser about why the aliens were there in the first place.

Victorians on Mars - meh. Didn't work for me at all. Only 2 more episodes to go in this series. Am I the only one saying thank goodness!
Yep.

I like Capaldi. Lucas is oddly endearing. I like the off-the-wall off-kilter approach.

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

Just saw the episode with the cyber guys, and I am really really enjoying this season. I'm really enjoying the horror feeling.

Thought it was an odd episode to watch right after seeing The Cure for Wellness, because of the parallels.

Was anyone else profoundly disturbed by the fate of lovely Bill? I had to read something nice and fluffy for half an hour after watching this episode.

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

Well, I guess it depends if it's terminal terminal. Supposedly she's not doing another series so it could be her end. Lovely, meh, most of the time she seems to be standing around with her mouth open and when she talks I can't always understand what she's saying. She's no Amy, who I think has been the best of the "current" assistants.

Frankly I'd have found it more interesting to drop the female assistant completely for a change and concentrate a bit more on Nardole. So far we know nothing about how he and the Doctor teamed up and little more about why Missy's been stuck in a locked vault the whole series. Given that the entire team seems to be changing I doubt we'll get those questions answered if it doesn't happen in next Saturday's episode.

Nardole was in a Christmas episode, wasn't he? He'd had his head transplanted (although I cannot remember why). Or was he a kind of Igor-esque character doing the head transplanting at the whim of someone else?

I like Bill. She makes a lot of sense to me!

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

Looks like several more series are in the pipeworks, thanks to a deal with a Chinese broadcaster.

http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-...-of-doctor-who

Olivia Coleman seems to be in the running. New DW man in charge wrote Broadchurch and she starred in it.

If it comes to pass, bye, bye doctor for me.

Ooh - Chibnall has had a varied career. Some stuff I've loved, others not so much. I think Coleman is brilliant... but I'm not sure she'd be a brilliant Doctor. Mind you I though that about Matt Smith at the start.

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

Don't know her at all as I haven't watched anything she's been in. But a female Doctor? No, just no.

The regeneration will be interesting. Will it start in next Saturday's episode or will they hang on to the Christmas special?

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

Coleman is great.. think Tilda Swindon would make a great Doctor Who but she would never do it, being in high demand internationally.

Ben Whishaw would also be a really good choice.

Comedy drama(ish) about a vicar . She's his wife. Tom Holland is the eponymous reverend.

I have my TV service programmed to record the current Dr Who episodes as a series; it screwed up again yesterday and I only got the last few minutes

Oh damn, that sucks! Specially because you really don't want spoilers on that episode!

But, you know, *cough* streaming is legal in Switzerland... *cough*

It's being repeated on BBC2, Saturday morning at 02:05 (UK time, so 03:05 here), if that's any use.

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

Hi,

I enjoyed the finale even though it would have been even better if they had not spoiled by telling people the master was returning as well as the Mondasian Cybermen. Also it is shame that it leaked that first doctor would be returning for the Christmas special. Pearl Mackie did an excellent job but her departure was strange and I suppose it would allow her to return in the future.

Also it was great to see the master being written properly and John Simms was so much better this time than his original appearance.

What do you think ?

Have fun

Martin

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

The slightly longer time slot (60 instead of 45 minutes) certainly made things less rushed, and this episode was one of the best featuring Capaldi's Doctor.

Think we got the strongest hint yet during an exchange between John Simms and Capaldi that the replacement will be a woman, although I'm hoping I'm wrong; if it's that Coleman person I'm definitely not watching!

Bill's character rather annoyed me so I'm glad she's gone for the moment, but as the door's been left open expect she'll be back at some point.

All in all, not bad.....

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

Will be interesting to see if the Master is regenerated since it was clear that Missy couldn't.

I found the constant swapping between Bill being Bill and being a Cyberman a bit irritating. The point was obvious after the first couple of times so should have settled on her being shown as one or the other for the rest of the episode. And as usual I missed a lot of the talk because the music was too loud in comparison.

That's something that's annoyed me all season. Installed a Sonos Playbase this week and it transformed the audio - dialogue now as clear as a bell.

Intrigued to know what they're going to do about the regeneration because isn't this technically the Doctor's 12th and last possible incarnation? Which would also explain why Missy can't regenerate?
