Jodie Whittaker. Bye, bye DW, won't be watching any more.

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

Well, that was a surprise. I liked her on Broadchurch, but a female Dr Who? Not sure. I'll watch and give her a chance, but I don't know if it will work, we'll see.

Doctor Who is not and never will be a woman as far as I'm concerned, plain and simple. Didn't like the Master becoming Missy so this is last straw for me.

Give the girl a chance and see what she can do.. hopefully they will give her better scripts to work with.

Let's wait and see.

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert)

Think Jodie Whittiker is an excellent choice. She can do high drama and has fabulous comic timing too. She's got a real warmth about her but I bet she can do icy. The story scope has just widened massively. I wonder if she'll be keeping her Yorkshire accent?

As Swisstree said, there just needs to be some better writing. Mind you I thought a couple of the Capaldi ones (the one where he's been imprisoned for years is a stand out) were sublime.

Roll on the Christmas special.

Nope, not for me. Christmas one will be my last and may not watch that, depending on what the storyline's supposed to be. If it's the usual crap then I'm not going to bother.

You know the Tardis is bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside, don't you?

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert)

Was talking to a friend about the change of Doctor and noticed that probably the thing I will miss the most is Bill. I really liked Bill - she was fun. And truth be told, I did love the turn they did with the Cybermen.

I did enjoy the last season. Not sure if it was just because the writing was different, but I thought it was a nice turn. I just hope the Daleks will be back, because I love those tin cans

Funny that, because Doctor Who isn't a man, either.

It's a fictitious alien in a dreadful television series which, very conveniently, shapeshifts whenever the actor playing it decides to move onto something less dreadful. A woman pretending to be the alien is no more absurd than anyone else pretending to be it.

I honestly don't see what all the moaning is about.

Same reason for the uproar:

- over the cross-guard lightsaber
- who shot first
- over the changes of canon in the X-Men movies
- a black Human Torch
- female cast of Ghostbusters
- Furry Bitzer

People hate change, even on a show that has dealt pretty well with change, forcing you to constantly adapt to a new team for the last 50 years.

Is change good? Not always. But people just like to moan nevertheless, without even giving it a chance...

It's like toddlers screaming they hate broccoli before they even tried it, really.

But Doctor Who isn't anywhere near in the same class as something like Star Wars, which is actually important.

Doctor Who is a superannuated children's programme which, somehow, has kept on going way too long after it's use-by date. It should have stayed shelved after it was killed off in the eighties. Some things just shouldn't be revived.

To me, Doctor Who belongs in the same box as Crackerjack, Andy Pandy and Pob. A locked box, cast into the ocean, preferably somewhere near the Marianas Trench.

I really do not understand its current international popularity. It's shite. It was shite when I was a kid and it's shite now.

Although I did enjoy that episode with the moving statues and the cute young lady in the cosy-looking scarf.

It's a case of "one man's meat is another man's poison", I think. I can't understand why programmes like the X-Factor or Britain's Got Talent haven't suffered a similar "locked box in the ocean" merciful ending but the TV ratings seem to keep it afloat, dammit.

Dr Who is something I dip in and out of and is a bit of nostalgia from my childhood, which was refired when my son got a taste for it. Then rapidly lost it after the scary angels episode...

Have you seen the "Are you my mommy?" episode? It was really cool. Some episodes are none sense, some are really great. I do enjoy it.

None sense series can be cool. I remember my first reaction to Red Dwarf. I still watched and enjoyed it, even though it isn't exactly prime beef quality :P
