Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert)

They're what? 5 episodes in now? Can't say I miss not watching them at all. Sad really.

Didn't love ep 5 but the other 4 have been good. Whittaker is very mercurial... I like her. I'm mostly surprised at how annoying Bradley Walsh isn't.

"Battled daleks"? Pah! All you needed to do was run up a flight of stairs and they're screwed.

Wasn't v realistic: entirely pain free and not-messy.

Looking forward to the episode on Christmas Day? Forget it, not happening.

New Year's Day will still be a nice day, but no Christmas Special? There's been one each year for longer than one of my children has been alive! How will we cope?

It was interesting to see the article comment that the number of viewers for this series is higher than the last ... saying that the Sunday evening timeslot is responsible for that. Is it possible that having a female Doctor has increased the number of people interested in watching?

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert)

This weekend I binge watched all the episodes that came out. I actually really enjoyed them, as I haven't enjoyed Dr. Who in a very long time. Ok, the one with the spiders was not my thing, but I really enjoyed where they went - the history, the social themes, the twists and turns.

I'm also enjoying the 3 companions and the lack of romance. If I want slimy romance between protagonists I'll watch Grey's Anatomy, thank you very much.

I was never a fan of Matt Smith. I found the bad writing left Capaldi between a rock and erupting volcano. From me, the new team gets a thumbs up.

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert)

HI,

by the way helm, I like your avatar. I have found the series this year to be very poor compared to the last few years. I don't really like the current direction of the show and all the anticlimatic episodes. I see for the new year's Episode that there will be Daleks. I wonder how the show can mess that up.

I hope the writing and overall approach improves and that they reduce down the number of companions.

Have fun
Martin

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert)

Utterly disagree!

I've found this series to be the most watchable since Matt Smith's second series. It has a proper Dr Who feel to it.

Make the most of the New Year's Day episode folks because it'll be the only one for 2019.

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert)

The only episode I didn't like, which I didn't even finish, was the one with the blood balloon and the rats.

It felt a little too... old school for my taste. Need to try that one again, perhaps gets better after the second half. But somehow I ended up watching Irish horror movies this weekend and slipped into The Haunting of Hill House in between, so Dr. Who has to wait.

Mr. Helm is getting tired of me giggling and pointing out all characters that have been in Downton Abbey. He complains that "it's like they don't have other actors in the UK!" Pointing out Mr. Big and Mr. Gold is not helping...

Give Grabbers a go... shouldn't work but it does. It has a Tremors vibe.

Did you see how they made it to the other side? No?

Thinking back, this episode is a bit like Twilight Zone. Also wondering if we will see "Jeremiah" in the future.

Hi,

there have been bad series in the past and Dr Who has always recovered. I will definitely watch it and the trailer did not look bad.

Have fun
