I'm hoping John Hurt is just a one episode wonder and Matt Smith continues as the doctor for a long time yet! (Unless David Tennant comes back of course )

I think he may be around a bit longer than one episode. As he's playing the dark side of the Doctor I expect he'll be popping up in several episodes over the next series at least. Could make for some interesting storylines.

That sounds good. As long as he isn't the 'new' Doctor.

The critics didn't like the episode, but we all loved it.

We loved it too, but enjoyed a glass or two of wine with it, so maybe didn't get all the twists and turns. I think I will watch it again, completely sober!

Being a late adopter of the series (only started with the new one - didn't even know the old existed then), I must say that Matt Smith is my favourite doctor so far.
And I'm quite happy with Clara - managed to cheer me up after crying endlessly when I realised Amy would not come back...

Shame, really. I think he's been the best since they restarted the series. As Moffat says, he's managed to capture the comedy and serious sides of the doc very well imho.

I'm gradually going through the process of watching all of the Tom Baker stuff, and I've got to say that no doctor that followed him made the grade, apart from David Tennant. However IMO the only possible actor that could in anyway hold a torch to Tom Baker would be....
Benedict Cumberbatch
Sadly he's to busy with a well deserved Hollywood career and the fantastic Sherlock Holmes, meaning the chances of him becoming the Dr are sadly miniscule.

Having spent Saturday evenings hiding behind the sofa as a kid because of the Daleks I have never been able to watch Doctor Who.
I probably wouldn't need to hide now but after close on 40 years not having seen it I don't think I'll bother to start watching now. | This user would like to thank Belgianmum for this useful post: | |

(David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston were my favourites.)
