It was a good t-shirt. "Keep calm and don't regenerate".

I recently got the dvds for NeverWhere which has Peter Capaldi in a fairly key role.

Nonsense. The Doctor can be any age, William Hartnell proved that long ago. And in some ways I'd appreciate a slowing down of the programme's tempo. Sometimes things are happening so fast and they're gabbling so quickly I can't keep track of what's going on. Part of the problem is trying to squeeze everything into one episode rather than over 2, 3 or 4 as it used to be. There's no chance to develop a story properly. I'd be fine with an older Doctor who doesn't have to be running around all the time.

Forget Cumberbatch, leave him with the dreadful Sherlock Holmes series.
You can't keep track?

I have been watching the current series on Fox in German

Dr Who on Fox in German? Wow, weird. You'll be even more lost than I am then.

I think you're showing your age! It's not so hard to keep track. I do agree, however, that longer stories would be good.

You're in a definite minority if you think Sherlock Holmes is dreadful, but each to their own.

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

Speaking as a self-confessed Whovian (pretty apparent, I would assume ), I'm absolutely delighted with the casting. I think Peter Capaldi is an excellent choice and I'm really glad they went for someone older.

I tend to agree. I was getting rather tired of hipsters with foppish haircuts

Edit - that's a little unfair of me, I know, but I think you know where I'm coming from.

I love Matt and I'll be really sad to see him go. But I'm really looking forward to seeing what Capaldi brings to the role. Despite being mainly associated with Malcolm Tucker I can see him actually playing quite a gentle, soft-spoken Doctor. Don't ask me why, just my gut feeling.

It seems like they gave it to the right guy

Quote:
A lifelong fan of Doctor Who, landing the role of the Time Lord is a dream come true for Capaldi.

He even wrote a letter to the Radio Times when he was a teenager in 1973, praising the magazine for its Doctor Who special celebrating the show's 10th anniversary.

Re: Dr Who (Spoiler Alert 2013)

I have never seen Peter Capaldi play Malcolm Tucker, I've only seen him in occasional TV dramas.
I can now think of him just as Doctor Who, looking forward to the new series.

Nope, you can also think of him as the evil Cardinal Richlieu as he's just finished filming a new 10 part series of "The Musketeers" for the Beeb which is also due to be shown next year. They're certainly keeping him busy.

I thought you meant an actual fest, and we'd all get to dress up in frock coats, long scarves, or stockings and suspenders according to our preferences.

Oh wait. Sorry, I was thinking of BP in Secret Diary of a Call Girl for that last one.
